“Good morning. I’m about to make some French toast, if you want some,” Zac said.

She nodded her head and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.

“Of course, I want some,” she said.

Stumbling into the kitchen, her eyes half closed, she poured herself some orange juice and slid into the kitchen chair.

“No coffee?” he asked.

“In a minute. Orange juice has a lot of important vitamins and minerals that are healing and that can wake a girl up even better than coffee can,” she said.

He put breakfast on the table. She dug in with gusto.

“I feel like I’m starving and haven’t eaten in a week,” she said.

“Like you said, it was quite a day you had yesterday,” Zac said. “You used a lot of adrenaline. It will probably take a while for you to recover from that.”

“It’s hard to believe that so much happened in just one day. Tami, my grandma, and getting kidnapped in the morning, rescued in the afternoon, sex at night,” Olivia said. “It’s enough to wear a girl out.”

“Maybe you should take a couple of days to recuperate,” Zac said.

“No. Not having things to do would drive me even crazier than I already am. I like working at Howlers’.”

After several bites, she said, “This French toast is delicious. If you ever decide to give up the prestigious role of being an alpha, you could be a chef.”

“Trade one high stressed job for another? Why in the world would I want to do that?” he asked. “Cooking is for fun. It’s what I do to relax.”

“You do it well,” she said. Then, she smirked and said, “That’s not all you do well. You could probably make a living doing that, too.”

He stood up and bowed low, and said, “I’m glad that I could please, M’lady,” and then gathered the dishes from the table.

After dropping Olivia off at her hotel room, he headed into work. Olivia wasn’t kidding about the previous day. Yesterday had been very stressful. The idea of losing Olivia had strangled his soul. He knew that if anything happened to her, his life would never be the same. However, he still wasn’t at that point to ask her to go through the mating ceremony with him. He couldn’t say the words, “I’m in love with you”, yet.

The elders were waiting for him, eager to hear all of the details about the events from the day before. He told them every little detail, from hearing Olivia’s and Jade’s call for help, to finding the trail with the blood droplets, and the eventual rescue of the women and arrest of the witches.

“We’re glad that whole thing is over. I know that there is no closure for the family who lost loved ones, but at least it’s over and no other shifters will be in danger,” Elder Ivan said. “I take it that the witches are going to see to it that Marsden and the others face justice for what they have done?”

“The queen has assured us that they will be spending the rest of their lives in a tiny little cell that prevents them from doing magic,” Zac assured them.

“You did a great job working with the other clans to get this matter taken care of,” John said, clapping Zac on the back. “Nice rescue, too.”

“Thanks, Dad,” Zac said, heading into his office.

Tami came into his office with some messages. Then, she asked, “Are you sure that Olivia wasn’t part of the witches’ group and lured Jade into trouble? Jade is so sweet that she would trust Olivia.”

Zac groaned and ran his fingers through his hair. “I’m sure. Olivia was tied up and in danger, too.”

“That could have been a ruse.”

“What is your problem with Olivia?” Zac asked, although he knew full well what the problem was.

“She’s trouble,” Tami said. “I can feel it in my gut.”

“Olivia is not trouble, and you need to drop it,” Zac said. “I had better not hear any rumors about Olivia, either, or there will be consequences.”

Tami pressed her lips together and flounced out of his office.

He called Allison and Xavier and made an appointment with them to come in the following day for an interview for the personal assistant position. Zac had had enough of Tami. He hoped that finding her a new job would take care of her issues.
