“How does Samson and Harlow fit together?” I ask.

We need to head to that safe house and check shit out. I’m sure Samson is there, considering I don’t know where else he could be, and it seems like he’s been going there more often as the days pass. As if he’s planning something big or doing something big.

“Harlow came to me, looking for her sister,” I say. “But how did she get to you?” I ask, turning to look at my father.

He dips his chin. “I made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.”

Anger radiates through my whole being. “You make Allison an offer, too?” I ask.

“An offer? No. She’s too smart and too loyal to accept an offer like Harlow, but I made it clear that you needed this marriage. And I also made it clear that there was no place in it for her or that baby she has inside of her. I had her sign some contracts and gave her some cash and told her that the baby wasn’t yours.”

Anger swells inside my chest, but I don’t react. I’ve been taught how to control my emotions. Even though I want to say or do something right now to my father, I don’t. Instead, I just accept his words for what they are.

Factual. Also, I know his actions were meant to be protective.

“Allison is your prize, Hendrick.”

A moment later, he’s on the phone with my mother and canceling everything for the wedding. And seconds after he hangs up, she calls me. “You’ve chosen your bride, then,” she says, her voice almost lyrical.

She sounds like she’s laughing.

An I told you so on the tip of her tongue.

“She was always my bride,” I confess.

“Indeed.”

Ending the call, I jerk my chin toward my father and nod once. “Let’s find my bride and the bitch who fucked her over.”

Coleman and Wells chuckle. I can tell they’re just as ready for the fight as I am. And I am fucking ready.

“They all go down,” I grind out. “No mercy, not anymore. I don’t care if they’re family or not.”

My father’s gaze lifts to mine. We don’t kill our own in public, not like that, not even when they’re in the middle of the chaos. We usually take them to a meeting and make an example out of them as my father states their wrongdoings, sometimes even holding a vote.

I’m not sure if he’s going to try and scold me for my thoughts, but I’m a little taken aback when he doesn’t. Instead, his lips curve up into a grin. “They fucking die, and we’ll explain shit later. I am done with this, and maybe this will detour anyone else. Maybe.”

Finally.

Redemption.

Revenge.

ALLISON

The man with the suit stares at me. “Do you have a name?” I ask, finally breaking the silence. I don’t really care what his name is, but in my mind, when I’m telling him what a douchebag he is, I want to know what to call him. And also, when Hendrick does find me, and he will, I want to be able to tell him who exactly took and held me.

“I do,” he purrs. But he doesn’t give it to me immediately, which annoys the hell out of me instantly. What a dick.

The teenager still doesn’t say anything either. He’s staring at me like he expects me to jump out of my skin and scare the shit out of him. At this point, I’m not sure which of us is more scared, him or me, but I’m not about to show it, that’s for sure.

No way in hell.

I refuse to let these people get the best of me. Those assholes who took me last time did. I let them have power over me, over my mind, for far too long. Not anymore. Not this time. I won’t let that happen again. I’m fighting not just for me, but for my baby, too.

“Samson, not that it matters. After tonight, we’ll never see one another again,” he says, giving me his name.

“So what are your plans?” I ask.
