Her eyes widen when I speak, mainly because she’s been looking behind me at Hendrick. She takes a step toward me, then another, before she rushes me. Her arms wrap around me in a big hug, and I do the same, hugging her back.

“Do I want to know where you know one another from?” Hendrick asks.

Tiffany takes a step back, her eyes rolling to the ceiling, then she brings them back to meet his. “Allison and I worked together at the bank.”

“You don’t work there anymore?” I ask in surprise.

She shakes her head. “The boss tried to pull the same shit with me after you left. His wife was harassing me. I got the hell out of there. It wasn’t worth it to me to stay anyway. It’s not like the pay was that great.”

She is not wrong. The pay sucked. I only stayed because I was stupid. I was sleeping with my boss in hopes of a raise. I got some gifts, but nothing much else. And the gifts he gave weren’t even worth the trash dick. I don’t say any of that, though. I don’t think Hendrick would want me talking about fucking someone else.

“Do I have the job?” Tiffany asks.

I laugh, and for the first time since walking into this room, I feel good. Happy even. “Of course, you have the job,” I say softly. “Did you think you really even had to ask?”

She shrugs a shoulder, then shifts her attention to Hendrick. “And I should be pissed that I wasn’t invited to the wedding,” she snaps.

Turning my head, I look over my shoulder at him. His eyes widen, then his lips curve up into a grin. “Well, if I had known I was going to marry Allison, I would have invited the whole fucking city to witness it.”

“Hendrick,” I hiss.

He shrugs a shoulder, his eyes dancing as he searches my gaze. “I would have. Maybe I still will. We’ll have a vow renewal.”

Shaking my head, I turn around to face Tiffany. She’s grinning as her gaze flicks between us. “I really love this,” she murmurs.

“What?” Hendrick asks.

“Two people I love who never committed to anyone or anything in their lives finding one another and falling head over heels in love. It’s really cute, which is kind of making me sick.”

Her nose wrinkles at the same time I burst out laughing. I didn’t realize I missed Tiffany, and I had no idea she was related to Hendrick. This world is too small, and Dallas seems to be even smaller.

“I cannot wait to sell all this sexy stuff,” Tiffany announces. “This is going to be a freaking blast.”

HENDRICK

The girls have their heads close together as they talk. I’m sure I am not needed in their conversation, so I steer clear. Moving around the shop, I take a second appraisal of where I’m going to put the cameras. They’ll all arrive later this week, along with the rest of the equipment I’ve ordered.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I reach inside, looking down at the screen. Frowning, I slide my thumb across before I lift it to my ear.

“I’m here,” I greet.

There is a moment of silence, then I hear the person on the other end of the line clear their throat before he speaks. I almost laugh, but I don’t think that my father would appreciate any kind of humor.

“Everything is happening earlier. I need you to come here in an hour and bring the wife.”

Fuck.

“I’ll be there,” I state.

Turning my head, I look over my shoulder at the girls. I could send Tiffany home, but seeing Allison so happy with her, I think I’ll send them both over there. Besides, some of this shit affects their part of the family, too.

“Hey, girls, wanna go to my mom’s for dinner?” I call out.

Both of them lift their heads, and I can’t help but let out a chuckle. They smile as their eyes find mine. I wonder what the fuck I did in this life to deserve those smiles. Tiffany is probably grateful that I haven’t killed her and her family, but the smile Allison gives me is without a doubt a fucking gift.

Maybe even a reward.

I’m not sure, but I want this every single fucking day for the rest of my goddamn life. Every fucking day. I inhale a deep breath as I watch them before they straighten and look around the shop.
