"You have a groupie here, Bast," Rose stated in a scornful tone, and I snapped my head in her direction, shooting her a hard glare. She was mocking me with her words, and her arrogant face was making me sick.

"What?" Mr Thorn lifted his eyes from the file he was holding, drifting his confused gaze between Miss Adelaine and me.

"Your assistant was secretly sniffing your clothes in your bathroom," Rose laughed as she approached me. "That's serious, sunshine. Are you in love with him?"

"No!" I yelled probably too loudly, and my immediate overemotional response didn’t sound very credible. Rose raised her eyebrows, opening her mouth to continue torturing me with her stupid statements, but Mr Thorn stopped her before she could speak again.

"Rosalind, thank you for this." He waved at her with a blue file, giving her a pointed look. "Leave us."

"As you wish," she grumbled, clearly not pleased with his command. With one last glare at me, she left the office, and I stayed in the middle of the room with the last person I wanted to talk to about this misunderstanding. I did my best to avoid any confrontation, and here I was again, face to face with his perfection.

Just great!

Bastian

Iwatchedmycuteassistant as she fidgeted on the spot, glancing everywhere but at me. She was squeezing my clothes in her hands tightly as though it brought her some kind of consolation to hold them.

I crossed my arms over my chest, checking her frame. She looked incredibly hot in at least three inches of high heels, a black pencil skirt, and a peach-coloured blouse. I noticed she was always making sure her buttons were closed after I told her about herbouncing breasts. I was amazed by her effort to do everything as I wanted it. She was even more obedient than I had anticipated. Lucky me.

"What are you going to do with those, Miss Hernandez?" I pointed to my sweaty shirt and pants in her hands, and she finally looked at me. Her hazel eyes were swirling with a mix of different emotions, and because I didn’t know her well, I couldn’t tell if she was scared of me or just ashamed of this situation.

"I’m taking your suits and shirts to the dry cleaners," she replied, her cheeks turning deliciously pink. She was humiliated she had been caught red-handed. I was sure that even when I acted like a total nightmare of a boss, she was thinking about me, but this was an entirely new development.

"And you were checking if this shirt is dirty enough, right?" I teased, enjoying her flushed state. Her eyes widened, and she took a sharp breath. Her cute, small nose wrinkled when anger crossed her face.

"I wasn’t sniffing it," she said through gritted teeth, glaring at me. "Your girlfriend is imagining things."

"Rose isn’t my girlfriend, Miss Hernandez," I muttered with a small smirk, straightening to my full height. She immediately backed away from me as if I were some terrifying monster. I didn’t know what to think of it. With her, I was in the dark. I barely spent a few days with her, and it was just too little to find out what kind of person she was. I needed more time and less asshole behaviour. I had to believe I would manage my temper and control myself around her. My hot-headed nature was my biggest enemy here.

"She certainly acted like one," Electra retorted, lifting her chin. I liked the defiance in her voice and the resilience in her posture.

"She is just overprotective," I stated, tilting my head slightly to the side and studying her face. I noticed small changes in her expression, but I wanted to know her every reaction, which only meant I needed to push harder.

"I’m your assistant, Mr Thorn, not a hired assassin." Her words made me chuckle, and her lifted eyebrows and surprised look were proof that she didn’t expect that from me.

"It would be very interesting to watch as you run around in those high heels, trying to shoot me," I mused, watching her as she bit her lower lip, suppressing a smile.

"Are you leaving early?" I abruptly changed the subject because just staring into her eyes could change my mind and my plan. I had to be sure about her before I made a move.

"Yes." She nodded, flashing a glance at my table, which was covered with papers. "I wanted to make sure everything was in its place before I left." She slowly approached my desk, opening a yellow file. I knew some contract was inside. My father used different coloured files to keep things organized. "Monday is the last date for signing those." She turned the pile in my direction, placing a pen next to it. "Mr Denver's PA calls almost every hour to check if you've already done it."

I negotiated the terms of that contract myself. I knew every single word written inside, yet I was postponing the finalization because I wanted to teach Robert Denver a lesson. I was expecting him to call me on Sunday and beg me to put my signature on the agreement. His survival was based on my will to help him. However, I had totally different things on my mind than a stupid contract with a company that was a few months away from bankruptcy.

I leisurely walked around my desk, stopping next to my charming assistant, and looked down at her. Her eyes were as big as saucers, and she shifted under my probing gaze, nervous from the sudden proximity of our bodies.

"Where do you need me to sign it, Miss Hernandez?" I asked in a seductive whisper, keeping a stoic mask on my face even when I wanted to ravish her on that oak table. She breathed in a sharp breath, keeping eye contact for a little too long before she averted her gaze to the file.

"Here," she muttered, pointing with her long nail to the dotted line. I moved closer to her; my mouth was on the same level as her nose when I reached for the pen to write my signature. My eyes didn’t leave her face for a second while she was trembling next to me.

"Where else do you want me, Electra?" I intentionally said those words right into her ear, and her reaction was priceless. Her breathing quickened, and she shot me a shocked glance, for a moment not understanding what I was talking about.

"Focus, Miss Hernandez." I smirked, tapping the pen against the table's wooden surface. "The contract."

"Of course," she exhaled, opening another file for me to sign. I leaned closer only an inch, inhaling her floral perfume. In just a few weeks, this had become my favourite scent.
