A waiter in a black suit with a bow tie approached me with a polite smile, and I gave him one of my own. He was trying to hide his obvious interest in me, and I mentally rolled my eyes. He wasn’t bad-looking, with his brown hair, brown eyes, and a goatee—he was actually kind of attractive. Yet, compared to my boss, he was like a cheap advertisement.

"Do you have a reservation, Miss?" he asked, checking me out. I felt incredibly uncomfortable under his scrutinising gaze.

"I have a meeting with Mr Thorn," I answered coldly because he was staring at my breasts for much longer than was appropriate.

"Does he know about you?" The waiter raised his eyebrows at me, and I blinked a few times, not sure if I had heard him correctly.

"Of course he does," I retorted. "I’m his PA," I added, and I saw as the realization hit him.

"I’m sorry, Miss Hernandez," the man said quickly, nervous all of a sudden. "Mr Thorn only showed me your office photo. You look absolutely different in person."

"It’s okay." I smiled, but I was sure it didn’t reach my eyes. I wasn’t interested in his lame excuses. "Take me to Mr Thorn. He doesn’t like waiting.”

The waiter nodded and motioned for me to follow him into the secluded area. I’d heard about it in the office. Mr Thorn’s father held his private meetings here. And very often, according to rumours, he also spent evenings here with his mistresses.

My eyes quickly scanned the room, trying to locate my boss. I found him sitting in the armchair in the corner, reading a paper. He was wearing one of his expensive suits, with a button-up white shirt and a blue tie. A gold watch on his left wrist reflected the light, and I noticed a golden ring on his little finger.

The waiter stayed on the threshold, closing the glass door behind me. All the walls were covered with dark wood, and there were no windows. The source of light was the same aquarium as in the restaurant but from the other side. I saw a bartender preparing a drink, but when he noticed me, he abruptly stopped and closed the door.

"You’re late, Electra." Mr Thorn's voice was as cold as ice, and his glare was the same. I opened my mouth to defend myself, yet he wasn’t interested in an explanation. He put the paper down and stood up, taking his jacket from the armchair.

"Read this." He gave me the file, which he was studying a few seconds ago, and left me standing in the middle of the room with my mouth hanging open. Only my quick reaction stopped him with his hand on the knob.

"Mr Thorn!" I almost shouted at him, and he halted his movements. He slowly turned around. His emotionless face sent shivers down my spine.

"I’m not angry at you, Electra. Yet," he hissed. "Don’t push me!"

"It’s not my fault," I stated confidently. "Your wonderful employee didn’t want me to meet you."

"So, Simon is responsible for you being late?" Mr Thorn enquired as he put his hands inside his pants pockets.

"Yes," I confirmed, feeling hopeful.

"Because he did his job and didn’t let someone who he’d never met disturb my lunch time?" my boss continued in his questioning, and my expression fell. He didn’t believe my words. Or, even if he did, he wasn’t on my side. He’d rather defend that asshole at the door.

"He knew you would have company!" I objected angrily. I didn’t want to lose this fight. I looked forward to spending some time with him, but he obviously preferred to spend the afternoon with his huge ego. He couldn’t acknowledge that it just wasn’t my fault.

"Well, you knew that too, right?" He raised his eyebrows at me, and I nodded slightly. "Why didn’t you leave the work earlier?" he asked, faking interest, and I clenched my palms. I hated when he acted like an arrogant bastard. He’d been so sweet and kind last night. Only because of those two minutes, he’d turned into that bossy monster who haunted me at work.

"I did," I sighed, trying not to provoke him even more. I wasn’t a match for him when it came to confrontation. "Fifteen minutes earlier, actually. But I got stuck in traffic," I added, watching him as his broad chest rose and fell in an even rhythm. I almost licked my lips, thinking about tasting his skin.

"You have an excuse for everything." He shook his head, and a lump formed in my throat. Not only because I was losing this argument but also because he wanted to leave me alone after the promise of lunch together. Why was he so cruel?

"It’s the truth!" I whined, exasperated. I couldn't think of anything else to say to make him understand. It was the stupidest fight I’d ever had with someone. And yet, I was defending myself like my life depended on it.

"I don’t have time for this," he barked, aiming for the door. I only had about three seconds to react before he ditched me, so I did the first thing that came to my mind.

"Mr Thorn!" He took a sharp breath, and I was still facing his back when I spoke. “I’m sorry for being late. I’ll take any punishment you see fit to teach me to always come on time."

I said it all in a quiet voice, with my heart somewhere in my throat. I knew he was strict about his rules, and punishment was the only thing that could grant me time with him. In his playbook, I made a mistake and I should be punished. So be it. Last time, it was pleasurable and exciting. And I yearned to live through it again.

He slowly turned around, and his hungry look sent a chill up my spine. My palms were sweaty, and my breathing quickened. My pussy ached for him, and when I remembered the riding crop from the last night, I almost whimpered.

What've I gotten myself into? I actually craved being taken over his knee to have my ass spanked. Just the thought of a reward clouded my brain, and I was willing to roll up my new dress, pull down my panties, and stick out my butt for him to discipline me. Oh, God!

"I’m not sure you understand what it means, Electra," he uttered huskily, and I gulped. But I couldn’t go back. I wanted this. I wanted him.

"Perhaps." I nodded, clenching my palms. "But I’m sure that’s the only way you will stay with me."
