“Language!” I bark sharply, carefully putting my steak knife down and wiping my mouth with my napkin before giving her my full attention. “Do you think you could betray your family and get away with it?”

She instantly stops fighting the moment my words register, and I nod my triad to step away. She won’t be struggling much longer.

“Wh-what?” Her voice comes out choked and desperate, fidgeting with her glass of water before gulping it down with a shaky hand.

“No games, Nicola. It is beneath you and foolish to think I don’t have eyes and ears on you and your brother twenty-four-seven,” I say this with disgust, barely controlling my anger at the mention of Nicholas.

"What—yeet, skirt, skirt—do you want?” she stutters, struggling with her Tourette’s, as she slams her hand down on the table and rattles the dishes.

“That’s a loaded question. Do you want to know how I plan to sell you to the lowest bidder in the next auction or how you're just bait for Nicholas?” I calmly tell her, waving my two fingers at one of my men at the kitchen doorway.

He nods and disappears behind the swinging doors into the commotion of the chef’s kitchen. I glance back at my daughter, seeing her pale with dread, but her eyes still hold that indifference and rebellion. That won’t last much longer.

“Fuck you, old man. I’ll never betray my brother.” Shelifts her chin and glares at me, but still leans away in her seat when a grin sneaks over my lips in satisfaction.

“It only takes a little encouragement to get one to do anything you want. However, I really don’t need you to do anything. This is a lesson for double-crossing me.” I reach for my sweet wine and smile into my glass as I look behind my daughter to see my triad guard bringing in the struggling young man through the kitchen doors.

“Let me go! Where is she?" my daughter’s boy toy yells, trying to swing his fists, but it harshly yanked back and dragged over to my table.

Nicola gasps and turns quickly in her seat, crying before whipping back around to glance at me in horror.

“Now, don’t look at me like that. You did this to yourself. I’m going to send a message to your brother; he’ll be joining us in no time.” I wave with a gesture to proceed and lean back in my seat, crossing my ankle over my knee to enjoy the show.

It’s satisfying to see the panic come over Nicola’s face as she tries to jump out of her seat but is instantly stopped before she can take a step forward.

“Evan!” she screams, struggling against the triad guard, holding her back by his arm around her waist.

Weak. She’s so weak, it makes me sick.

I sip my wine as the guard holding the boy shoves him to the ground and starts kicking him as he tries to shield his body with his arms over his head. I nod once, and the rest of the six men surrounding us step forward to start beating Nicola's boy toy into the burgundy carpet.

“You monster! I’ll kill you!” Nicola screams in outrage, staring at me with hatred-filled eyes that match her brother’s.

“Make sure you don’t kill him. I want him alive and to beable to give my son a message.” I ignore Nicola, addressing my triad as grunts and the sound of the heel of dress shoes hitting flesh fill the otherwise quiet restaurant.

It’s time to show Nicholas what happens when a father disowns you.

It’s kill or be killed, but I don’t need to worry about that. Nicholas has never been able to beat me.

After tonight, I won’t have a son anymore.

A slow grin spreads over my face as I think of the surprise that whore of theirs is going to get. Cruz is going to have fun and play his games with her until her eyes slowly fade and become lifeless. I’ll make sure she’s used and abused, and then no one will ever want her again.

Worthless whore.

A woman who snared my son into a trap between her legs to betray me.

I’ll make sure she’s taken on the yacht and shipped overseas to the most dangerous, scary places she’s ever been as she’s raped over and over again.

I will have my justice and come out on the other side, winning as always, even if my heir is long dead.

No one stands in my way and lives.

No one.

Nicholas

“Nicholas! Stop! Please stop. You can’t go running to him!” Tillie’s pleads sound behind me, desperate for me to listen to reason, but I can’t for the life of me.
