Ironically, the two people who’d planned to part ways with Falcon were now the ones working the longest hours alongside my team. We’d take all the help we could get on our mission to continue crossing names off our list.

Unfortunately, anytime we’d managed to get a name (two at this point), they were killed before we could question them. The Collective had eyes everywhere. The only bright side was that “they” took out the trash for us. Two more down. How many to go? We had no clue.

Until we cut the head off the snake and ensured it never grew back, we’d be chasing our tails. After months of working this case, we were all exhausted and frustrated, and the only place I wanted to be right now was with Diana.

I’d only flown back to Pennsylvania because the team was supposed to touch base with Mya and Oliver tonight. They were deep under and couldn’t risk making contact more than every few weeks. This was our only shot at getting to The Collective before that lead was killed, too. If “they” didn’t know we were onto them, we could silently move in that way. It was our best shot, and the team owed Mya and Oliver for embedding themselves so deep under.

“Hopefully Mya and Oliver have something when they make contact,” Gwen spoke up, peering at us over her screen.

Mason checked his watch. “They should’ve reached out by now, though.”

“They will.” I stood. “Let me know when you have them on the line. Until then, I’m going to make a call.” I nodded my thanks to him, then to Gwen for working so hard, then disappeared down the hall for some privacy.

I closed myself in one of the storage rooms and opened up the security app.

Sometimes I couldn’t believe how much had changed since the night Secret Service had picked me up from my home in Pennsylvania to let me know the lab in Amsterdam was hit.

After the wedding, I’d sold off my home and the other office I’d kept in Pennsylvania. For now, my home was wherever Diana was. Once we took down The Collective, we’d plant some roots and maybe give Dallas a furry friend to play with, too.

Setting my back to the door, I turned on the volume so I could listen to Diana talking to Bahar inside her office at the lab I’d had constructed for them in Dubai. Old habits and all. At least this time she knew about it.

I drew up our last text thread to give her the heads-up I was watching.

Me: You have a second?

Diana retrieved her phone, then peered straight at the camera while letting Bahar know she needed the room. “Watching me, are you?” she teased once alone.

Me: Miss you. Can’t help it.

Me: Touch yourself. Let me see you.

She read my messages, chuckling. The sound was heaven, and just what I needed to help me get through the night. “Right now? In here? Is that an order?”

I palmed my dick over my jeans and let go of a gruff breath.

Me: Absolutely. To all three.

She rested a hand over her abdomen, lightly shaking her head. “Your daddy is crazy. You’ll love him, though, just like I do.”

My shoulders fell at her words. My chest squeezed with emotion.

Me: She’s going to be just like her mother. My little angel. Or maybe there can only be one angel. You. She can be my little girl. How about that?

Talking to the camera, she told me, “We’re only eight weeks. What if we’re having a boy?

Me: Energy doesn’t lie ;)

“You’re right about that. But the world could also use more men like you.”

Me: I mean, I have no plans to stop at just one child. We can have a boy next.

Finally obeying, she slipped her hand between her legs but over her jeans. No, those needed to be lowered so I could see her.

My muscles tightened with anticipation of what she’d do next. She usually made a show of slowly taunting me. Misbehaving here and there, more than eager for my reaction.

This woman, with my child in her belly, was all mine. It wasn’t luck but fate. It was meant to be that we’d found our way to each other. A long, rough road to get there, but we made it.

Me: I want to see my wife pleasure herself. Will you do that for me?
