“I know. It’s because…well, you see.” I tripped over my words, my nerves getting the better of me. “Ummm.”

He squinted and assessed my body again, and then his eyes grew wide.

That’s when I blurted, “I’m pregnant.” I held my breath, and he froze. The silence was so loud I could suddenly hear a plane flying overhead through the crack in the balcony door.

“You’re pregnant?”

“Yes.”

His gaze dropped to my belly and then back to me. He had a grip on my ass, and he leaned closer to me. “Penelope, you're pregnant with my baby?”

“Yes.”

His mouth opened, but no sound came out, but then he moved, sliding down my body to my stomach where he faced it, eyes wide with disbelief. Wrapping his arms around me, he turned his head and pushed his ear against my belly, and I giggled.

“You can’t hear anything yet because?—”

“Ssssh,” he shushed, and I closed my lips and smiled.

“I apologize,” he murmured against my belly. “I didn’t mean to beat you up a minute ago, but your mom didn’t tell me until now.”

I held back my laughter, but my body shook with mirth.

“I promise to be a better father than…”

He sat up suddenly, alarm in his gaze.

“What?” I asked.

“Who else have you told?”

“Nobody.”

“Not a single soul?”

“My doctor knows.”

“Who’s your doctor?”

“Doctor Lynn Walker, why?”

“Don’t tell anyone else.”

“Dominic?”

“You understand the world we live in.” I nodded. “Don’t tell anyone else until I say it’s okay.”

“Okay. I won’t.”

He sighed and glanced around the room, then back to me. A smile ushered to his face, and he snatched me up, dragging me to sit on top of him.

“I love you.”

My heart melted. “I love you, too.”

He dick hardened, and I shifted, lifted myself and eased on top of his erection as it plunged into me.

“Oooooh…”
