“Better to get in the habit now, Dominic,” Enzo advises as he peers over Michael’s shoulder to get a good look at Liam.

“Says the one the baby should stay away from the most,” Dominic grumbles before he walks toward me with the diaper bag. He hands it over to me and says, “We didn’t get to talk much before I basically kidnapped your baby, but hi, I’m Dominic. Your baby daddy’s cousin.”

Dominic, similar to his cousins, is a tall man with a strong build, but unlike them, he has short blond hair and dark eyes. He's handsome, sure, but he's not Michael.

“Thank you, Dominic. Really, I’m incredibly grateful for your help.” I mean every word and hope he sees my gratitude in my face.

“Yeah, well, it’s the least I can do since I missed out on your rescue. I always miss the good stuff when I leave.” He crosses his arms over his chest and frowns.

“I wouldn’t call rescuing Rose from a man who bought her at a human auction a good time, you idiot,” Raphael chastises him, which deflates Dominic’s mood a little when he realizes exactly how his words sound.

“Sorry. Anyway, that Anette lady said you left that diaper bag behind, and she wants you to call her when you leave the hospital and get settled.”

Michael and Dominic devised a clever cover story to explain my sudden disappearance and lack of communication. As far as Anette knows, I suffered a serious fall on the way back to the house and have spent the last week in and out of consciousness in a hospital in Venice, before being transferred back to the States. Dominic stepped in as a worried family member tasked with bringing Liam to me while I recovered back home.

Dominic turns to Michael. “Anything else, cousin? I’m exhausted and would really like to go home and sleep for the next week.”

Michael doesn’t look up from Liam as he answers, “Go ahead. Thank you, Dominic.”

“You’re welcome.” He starts toward the elevator before he stops and turns. “Hey, I’d like to come see the rug rat after I’ve rested a bit. You know, just to check on him and make sure Michael’s not being a total idiot when it comes to parenthood.”

“Goodbye, Dominic,” Michael says flatly.

“We should go too,” Raphael suggests, his tone solemn.

Michael sighs and traces his big hand over Liam’s fair red hair and down his face. Liam tries grabbing for his fingers but is too clumsy and awkward. “I know.”

“Where are you going?” I ask, catching on that Raphael means Michael in that equation.

“Our dad wants to see us,” Raphael answers.

“Again?” The question slips free before I can stop it. “Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound like that.”

“That’s quite alright, Rose.” Raphael smiles at me. It’s eerie how he’s identical to Michael…but also not. Michael keeps his hair longer on top and his sides shorter, whereas Raphael styles his hair long and messy around his face. Hairstyles aside, Michael carries himself a certain way that’s just slightly different from Raphael.

Reluctantly, Michael hands Liam back to me. The baby fusses for a moment before settling into my arms. A finger lifts my chin, and I gaze into Michael’s hooded eyes. He leans forward and whispers against my lips, “You look hot as fuck right now holding my son. Makes me want to impregnate you again.”

And there go my ovaries. Only this time, my greedy pussy joins in, and I fight back the urge to rub my thighs together. I’m faintly aware we have an audience, but Michael has me trapped in his gravity.

He chuckles, his breath warm and delicious on my mouth before he kisses me. “I’ll see you soon.” He moves to my ear and whispers, “And I plan on revisiting what we started on that couch when I get back.”

Fuck me. If I could get pregnant from just words, there’s no doubt I would have right then and there.

Rose

I wake up to the familiar feeling of muscular arms enveloping me in warmth. My eyes slowly open, gazing up at Michael’s chiseled features. He hasn’t realized I’ve woken up yet and is still speaking with Gabriella and Enzo, so I close my eyes again to respect their privacy.

“You need to go home, Gabriella,” he says. His voice sounds as exhausted as my body feels, and I wonder what time it is. “Raphael shouldn’t be alone right now. He stormed out and wouldn’t talk to me when I followed him. Maybe you can get through to him.”

“I’ll go with her,” Enzo offers. “Make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid tonight.”

“I can’t believe Dad would do this to him.” Gabriella’s words are sharp, her tone angry. Very much unlike the woman I’ve enjoyed getting to know all night. “He doesn’t even know the girl.”

“We’ll talk about it some more tomorrow. Nothing is set in stone. I’ll find a way to get him out of it. For now, I just want to check on Liam and tuck Rose into bed.”

After a long pause,Gabriella murmurs softly, “I like her, brother.”
