I miss you too. More than you know. I’m coming to the game with you this week. Already blocked it off at work.

I smile as another text from him comes in.

Aaron

Sorry, Zo. I know it’s been busy, but I’ll make it up to you when I can. I promise. For now, enjoy the place. I’m glad you’re there.

Sweet relief wraps around me like a warm hug. Not only will I not be going to Dom’s game alone, but I get to finally spend some quality time with my brother. In two nights, I’m going to be showing up to the hockey game as Dominik’s new girlfriend. The game where Dom and I will officially go public. In front of his fans and all his teammates. We didn’t even talk about the logistics of it the other night, and now with his work surprise, I’m not really sure how we’re going to go about it. Do I make a grand entrance? Do I hug him? Do we kiss?

No kissing, he made that perfectly clear. But new couples can’t keep their hands off one another, so how exactly are we supposed to make a memorable first impression?

Me

Hey

Bubbles pop up immediately.

Dom

Everything okay?

Me

Yes…I just wanted to ask you a couple of things about the upcoming game. And to thank you for today.

Dom

I hope that shuts down some of the gossip at work. I’ll drop by soon.

Me

You don’t have to.

Dom

What did you want to ask me?

Deep breaths. No need to be nervous.

Me

Do you need me to do anything in particular at the game?

I keep staring at my phone, counting the times the tiny bubbles appear and disappear before a half-assed response gets delivered.

Dom

Do what feels natural.

Me

My natural may be very different than your natural, Mr. I’ve Never Had a Girlfriend.

Dom

What do you suggest?

Mulling over his question, I think about the coolest way to say we should probably make out or at least kiss on the cheek one time. There are photos online of him with his lips on some random girl’s neck or his hand up someone’s skirt; it would be weird if he was keeping a five-foot distance between the two of us at all times. No one would buy it.
