Page 41 of His Keepsake

“How did you settle on that? No, wait. I may not have any liquor in my coffee, but I do want to savor the taste for a minute before you distract me with more fucking chat.”

I grinned. “Go on and look.”

“Yeah.” He settled back into his chair and stared at her while taking sips. “Christ.”

Silence reigned for quite a while.

The neighbor’s horses neighed. Birds flew over, chirping.

And Emme made noises too—hot, unintelligible ones that reached us where we sat. My dick wasn’t feeling particularly relaxed. The girl loved whining through that ball gag.

I took a gulp of coffee that burned my already blistered mouth, but I barely noticed. I plonked the mug down and almost missed the table.

I’d thought this would be a deal breaker for me—a girl who liked it too much. It wasn’t. Maybe it was because I…we, had all the power.

We could do anything to her. Absolutely anything.

We could even kill her.

Yes, maybe it was that. It was a potential power, even if I wouldn’t go that far. I couldn’t quite figure out how my own mind worked.

He cleared his throat. “Okay. The twisted things we could do are already blowing my mind. What about after the week is up?”

“That’s the biggest issue. We have to let her go.”

“Seriously?” He leaned over the armrest to stare at me. “She knows us, and will know more by then.”

“If that is all she knows, our faces, your first name, even if she goes to the cops, we should be extremely difficult to find. I’m not killing her. No matter how casually I may have discussed this before. My morals are frayed, not dead.”

“Hmmm.” He sat back again. “We could keep her.”

“Forever? Not doable. Just not doable.”

“We have the money to keep her somewhere she cannot escape from. We could.”

“No. If you want in, we do this my way. I’ve thought it through. Besides, eventually we’d get bored with having a prisoner. Then what?”

“If we let her go, sooner or later she’ll track us down and the police will inevitably find us.”

He had enunciated that as if convincing a slew of new backers of his company. It was Axl in CEO mode.

“Why is it I feel like you’ve a company pamphlet with that printed on it?”

He fell silent but I knew him. He was keeping that idea on the table.

“I’ll file keeping her under Maybe, then?”

“Jesus.” I shook my head.

Having to allow for another man’s opinions and ideas could jeopardize our chances of getting away with this. Especially those of a man as close to me and as good at power plays as he could be. It was the second drawback of having him join me.

The first drawback was my guilt if we were caught, and Axl went to prison.

There was also an advantage—the mindfucks we could do on her had multiplied.

The third drawback was that he was tempting me to tread in an evil territory, where I knew I shouldn’t go. Evil was a stupid word. Dangerous? Immoral? Fucking stupid? Keeping a girl to be our forever sex toy was all of those.

“So, who is she? Anyone we need to be super careful with?”
