“Nice to meet you,” Velle called before turning to me, trying to keep his lips from twitching. “She’s cute,” he said.

“Yeah, she is,” I agreed.

“Just so I’m aware moving forward,” he said, glancing at the gun at the table, then back to me. “Is ‘someone is practicing at the range’ a synonym for they’re ‘hooking up at the range?’”

A laugh escaped me as I shook my head.

“You know what? Probably.”

With that, I followed Siana back to the clubhouse.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Siana

I was determined to like his biker friends. Because they were important to him. Because he was becoming important to me.

I never expected, though, to like them as much as I did. Or how different they all were from what I expected.

Sure, some of themlookedlike bikers. Like Coast. But, apparently, the man had a soft side, given how sweet he’d been with the baby.

Eddie, while not technically a biker, was my new favorite person. I had no idea why he was working at a car parts store and cooking for his friends in his spare time, when he should have been feeding the masses at some amazing restaurant of his own.

York was a lot quieter, but I had a feeling that under all that big, burly guy exterior, he had a big heart.

Velle, well, I hadn’t really gotten a chance to get to know him. Since I’d been almost dying of humiliation when he’d walked up.

He hadn’t acted like he’d… seen or heard anything. But I couldn’t be sure about that.

Though I had to admit as we drove back to Alaric’s house in a sleek black sedan instead of the SUV, that even if Velle had seenor heard something, I wasn’t going to let that ruin how sizzlingly hot that whole experience at the range had been.

“You’re sure Eddie isn’t offended that we didn’t stay for dinner?” I asked.

“No, he’s fine. He knows how in and out everyone is. So long as he has someone to cook for, he’s happy. We can go back tomorrow if you want. Maybe go later. Stay for the party.”

“There’s a party?”

“It’s a Friday night. There’s always a party,” Alaric told me.

“Okay,” I agreed. “That would be fun.”

I hoped.

There was no guarantee.

I wasn’t exactly a party person, but Alaric was right. I had to experience one someday. At least with this one, I would have Alaric there to talk to. Or, if he was busy, I could retreat to the kitchen with Eddie.

The evening was filled with our new, but familiar routine. Taking out Frida. Feeding her. Ordering our food to eat. Taking Frida for a long walk to tire her out.

And just… nothing else happened.

He didn’t grab me to kiss me.

He kept his hands to himself.

Some part of me was worried that something had changed, that he decided he got all he wanted from me once I went down on him.

I was just rinsing off my toothbrush when the bathroom door pushed open fully.
