The air between us stills, until she nods and raises on her tiptoes to graze her mouth across mine, sealing the promise I make to her.
Thalia lets me lead her out of the kitchen, leaving Luca alone. His hard eyes raise to hold mine, his sardonic smile a twist of lips and teeth.
