He barks out a laugh. “Noted. But seriously. Use Gianna. You know she is desperate to get on your dick. I am sure she will come running if you give her a call...” he trails off, leaving the rest unspoken but I hear exactly what he is alluding to.

I run a finger across my bottom lip, mulling over Dante’s words. “That could work. Ocean will lose her shit.” I chuckle.

His brows furrow, confusion marring his face. “You’re still using Ocean and not her real name?” he asks.

“Yeah. It’s what I know her as and it suits her better. She will always be Ocean to me.” An unfamiliar feeling tightens my chest, when I remember how she reacted to me calling her by her real name. Some shit must have gone down with her parents and at some point, I want to know exactly what happened. What made her run. “She freaked out when I called her Emilee.” I rasp, my throat thick.

“Have you asked her about it? I mean, it must have been bad for her to run from a privileged life like that when she was just seventeen.”

I think about his question for a long minute. It rings true and I have every intention of sitting Ocean down so she can tell me everything. The opportunity just hasn’t presented itself, yet. What with my mamma or sister not leaving Ocean alone for even a second.

Tonight, that changes though. It’s time I know all about the little runaway.

Looking him in the eye, I speak. “I will. Tonight.”

“Thank you for dinner, Valentina. It was beautiful,” Ocean murmurs from her position at the table. Romeo is beside her, fast asleep in his stroller. I asked why she didn’t just put him down to bed in his crib, but she said that she didn’t feel comfortable leaving him so far away. I don’t understand it myself. We have one of those mobile baby monitors that she can check if she feels anxious. I also have cameras set up in their room and with one click of the app on my cell, I can see what our son is doing.

Mamma smiles softly, as entranced by myTesoroas I was when I first met her. I still believe she is a witch, with some sort of magical power. Everyone she meets falls under whatever fucking spell she is casting.

“I am happy that you enjoyed it, honey,” Mamma replies.

“I fear that without me doing any exercise, and eating your delicious home cooking, I am going to be a lot bigger by the time I leave.” She laughs, but it’s cut off when I bark out.

“You are not leaving. In fact, you are not going anywhere.” The whole room goes deathly silent. My narrowed gaze shifts to her face and when she looks at me all the blood rushes to my cock. Christ she is beautiful.

Defiance flashes in those ocean-colored orbs. She lifts her head, her chin jutting out as she stares me down. “I am taking Romeo to bed.” It’s not a question but a statement. Rising to her feet, her lips clamp shut, keeping the words I know she is desperate to spew inside.

“I want to speak with you,” I tell her.

“It will have to wait,” she hisses, making me bite back a grin. She doesn’t realize – or maybe she does - but her smart mouth turns my cock to steel.

“No. It won’t. You have thirty minutes. I will come to your room, so you don’t have to leaveourson.”

She rolls her eyes. Irritation slithers through me when they soften as she looks at my mamma and sister. A sincere smile curves her lips when she addresses them. “Thank you again. For everything. Goodnight.”

She turns on her heel, taking my son with her. Once she gets to the stairs, she will take Romeo out and carry him. I shake my head. Stubborn woman. It’s a battle of wills, one she won’t win. I just wish she would back down now and know her place.

But you like her fight, that little voice in my head whispers, and by the way my dick thickens it agrees.

“Nico, I already told you that you need to be nicer to that girl.” Mamma scolds me like I’m a child and my cock instantly deflates.

“Oh, please. She brought everything on herself.” A snort sounds. Without even looking I know it’s Dante. I shoot him a scathing look which wipes the smirk clean off his face. “I will treat her as I see fit,” I mutter.

Mamma shakes her head, disappointment clear in her eyes. “You’re a good man, Nico. Don’t let your anger at what happened control how you treat her. She is a good girl, young and scared. Do the right thing. Please.”

I sigh, falling back in my chair. Mamma knows damn well I can’t deny her anything. That doesn’t mean I am going to stop.

Ocean betrayed me.

She needs to pay for that.

Chapter11

Ocean

The door being shoved open has me yelping in surprise, though I already know who it is. My head snaps up to find who I knew I would find. My own personal devil, Nico, sauntering into my room like he owns the place. Technically he does, but still, that’s not the point right now. It may be his mansion, but I don’t think wanting a little privacy is too much to ask for. My eyes narrow in on him.
