"Ahh, safe to say you're still mad." He gives me a flat smirk.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Julian?" I cross my arms over my chest as I put as much distance as I possibly can between us. Matt's hackles are instantly up.

"In town to see my sister. Me and Ryan are hanging out in the bar for the game. I saw you come in and couldn't resist," he says evenly.

"Too bad you aren't as happy to see me. College looks good on you."

I roll my eyes. I catch Matt's gaze and he looks like he's ready to go to bat for me. Mia and Lex look livid and deadly cold, poised to attack.

"Mia and Matt, my ex. Julian, Matt and Mia, and of course you know Lex."

"Let me buy you all a round of Mimosas." He pulls out his black leather wallet and drops his credit card. I retrieve it, putting it back in his hands.

"No thanks, we're good," I say.

He puts his hands in his pockets, and for once, he looks awkward as hell. We take our seats, resuming our conversation, hoping he'll read the room and leave. Julian follows suit and sits next to me, pretending like we're still together, that he didn't rip my heart into tiny shreds last year. I sit in uncomfortable silence as Matt and Mia go on auto-pilot, commandeering the conversation, and making Lex feel at ease. There's an easy chemistry between the four of us that makes me so excited for next year.

My phone vibrates once, probably an email, but I'm bored and desperate enough that I pull it from my purse and check the notification. It's a number, and it's one I don't recognize.

857-393-2413:He has five seconds to remove his arm from your shoulder.

I shrug Julian's arm off and turn around to face a glaring Tomas sitting, with whom I could only presume to be his parents, four tables down.

"Fuck me," I curse under my breath. I'm not sure if I’m embarrassed for Tomas having to see this unfold, or I'm stunned because the universe has once again pulled us into the right place at the right time.

Julian smiles sarcastically. "I'd love to fuck you. I thought you'd never ask."

"Will you fucking go away?" I practically yell at him.

Mia, Matt, and Lex look unanimously stunned as, if summoned, Tomas appears and stands behind me, arms around my neck protectively, and nuzzles my cheek.

"Hi, Mia," DeLuca says, friendly. His demeanor is still fiery rage as he looks as though he's plotted and killed Julian in his mind, along with already having disposed of his body.

Mia gives a conspiring grin and opens her mouth. I kick her in the shin under the wooden table in warning.

"Her vibrator died when she was in the middle of her second orgasm last night," Mia says, unphased.

“Yeah, but at least it didn’t die before we heard her say your name,” Lex adds in.

I gasp and kick Mia again, harder this time, then do the same with Lex.

I hold my breath, unsure he’ll take the news that I fucked and told. Tomas tilts my head up, forcing me to look at his all-knowing smirk. “Did she now?”

"I reminded her to plug it in for later. She'll be miserable if it dies on her again," Mia adds with barely contained laughter.

"Rechargeable, huh? How sensible of you, Miss Hamilton."

Julian stands up, fists clenched, like a forgotten toy who had their batteries changed and just came back to life.

"And who the fuck is he?" he asks in a tone reminiscent of a petulant child.

Tomas sizes him up, the barely contained rage threatening to tip over the surface again. He relaxes, face almost reading bored. "I should be asking you the same thing."

"Julian," he practically snarls.

"Is your name supposed to mean something to me?" Tomas asks, bored, and even I’m impressed with the performance.

"The ex," Alexandria and I reply in unison.
