“Reagan, I will always choose you,” I said quietly, stroking her cheek. “Mate bond or not. I would rather have you, however that looks, than live any more of my life without you by my side. You’re all I’ve ever wanted.”

Her eyes filled with shiny tears, and she smiled. “Do you mean it?”

“Every word. Always.” I smiled, but it was tight. I swallowed thickly, preparing myself to say the very thing that went against all that I believed, but I would do it for her. “Reagan, I reject?—”

She pressed her hand over my mouth before I could finish speaking. “Don’t,” she whispered. “Don’t say it.”

My brows furrowed, not understanding why she’d stopped me.

“I thought that’s what you wanted?” I asked, holding her wrist after she took her hand away.

“Don’t reject me. I know that’s not whatyouwant, and I won’t ask you to go against your beliefs.”

Hearing the words meant everything to me. Still, a problem remained if I didn’t. I held her hands in mine.

“Let’s say, for argument’s sake, the mate bond is real. If I don’t reject you, we will seal the bond. I can’t do that to you. That goes against my beliefs as well.”

“I choose you, Caius,” she said slowly, taking a breath before adding, “Mate bond or not. However that looks. Just claim me as yours.”

Something in the air electrified. That was all we needed from each other. A confirmation we wanted the same thing, no matter what it was called.

We were on each other in a heartbeat. Her lips pressed against mine as she straddled my lap. She fisted one hand in my hair and cupped the back of my neck with the other.

“I love you,” she said against my mouth.

My chest squeezed, savoring the words I’d so longed to hear.

“I love you more,” I said, nipping her bottom lip. Her mouth parted, and our tongues twined, entering a dance with no end in sight. Chest-to-chest, we kissed like it was the first time. I gripped her hips in my hands, toying with the waist of her skirt.

“You can’t possibly know that.” She chuckled against me.

“Oh, but I can.” I skimmed my lips down her throat. There was a soft patch right where her neck met her shoulder, and I kissed it gently.

I flipped us, putting Reagan on her back. Grass crinkled beneath the blanket.

Her warm brown eyes were heavy lidded with lust. She gazed at me as I leaned down and kissed her bare stomach. She quivered in anticipation.

“I’ve lived countless lifetimes without you, Reagan. I know I love you more because I can’t imagine continuing on that way. I can’t lose you. I won’t.” I punctuated my statement with a kiss, and she moaned against me.

A growl rumbled through my chest. I was trying for sweet. Gentle. She made it hard to do when her legs came up and wrapped around my hips. Her back arched off the ground so she could grind against me. With only the fabric of my outfit between us, it was all too easy to envision the things I wanted to do to her.

“Who says I can’t imagine a future without you?” Her voice was low and husky. Sexy wasn’t a good enough description. “But right now I’m imagining it with youinme.”

I groaned. “You know, you make it hard for a man to do the right thing. I’m trying to go slow?—”

“I don’t want slow.”

Fire heated my blood. Desire coursed through me so swiftly that I had to watch my strength as I pinned her hips to the ground and rubbed my hard length against her wet center. Reagan writhed, arms and legs a twitching mess of carnal hunger.

“Are you sure about that?” I asked, teasing her.

“Yes.” I pulled back and flipped her over.

She moved fluidly without hesitation. I pulled her skirt off with one hard tug. The fabric ripped all too easily, revealing her to me. I shuffled back and knelt forward pressing my nose into her as I licked from clit to ass. Reagan cried out.

I hummed against her, and her hands fisted the blanket in response.

She whined, wiggling her hips against me. “Please.”
