The purple poster on my office wall was driving me insane.
Every time I looked at it, I saw Damien working on theother sideof the law. I envisioned him walking through crime scenes, stalking clients, fucking me…
His lips never left my memories, the feel of them against mine was still imprinted on my mind. Even now, all these weeks later, whenever I shut my eyes at night, images of Damien dominated my fantasies.
I shook away the thoughts and picked up a new case, vowing to complete the summary before looking up again.
“Excuse me, Miss?” A guy stepped into the room. “I’m looking for the mailroom.”
“It’s down the hall and to your left.” I kept eyes focused on my case.
“Thank you.” He cleared his throat. “Do you normally work this late?”
“No.” I flipped a page. “I just started here.”
“Well, now it makes sense why I’m just now noticing you lately.”
I rolled my eyes, hoping he’d get the hint.
“I’m Michael.” He stepped closer, and I looked up, ready to tell him I was busy, but the words instantly locked in my throat.
Michael Sullivan.
The mayor’s right hand man.
Hissexy as hellright hand man.
“It’s nice to meet you.” He smiled and extended his hand. “Do you have a name?”
“Yeah, um…” I shook it. “It’s Elizabeth. Elizabeth Tanner.”
“Well, Elizabeth Tanner, I’ve been trying to get your attention every day this week by asking for directions. Since this is the first time you’ve looked up at me, so I need to take advantage of the moment.” He smiled. “Can I please take you out to dinner?”
“Uh…” I set down my papers. “Like in a few weeks or so?”’
“No, liketonight.” He smiled. “You have to eat at some point.”
“I don’t want to leave my coworkers with unfinished files.”
“That’s why I asked your boss about this first. Just say yes.”
“Um…” I picked up my phone as it buzzed against my desk.

Do you expect me to BEG you to talk to me?
Ugh.I turned it off and smiled at Michael.
“Yes.”
