"Fifteen?" he wheedled, and I shook my head.

"I'm gonna start reducing it now," I warned, and he raised his palms up in surrender.

"Fine. Ten minutes. You win."

Smirking, I ran my fingertips over Moon's silky fur as I thought about how to approach the next topic. Then again, I wasn't exactly known for my tact.

"You both like Dakota, don't you?" I asked, and as one, two sets of eyes turned to me, their previous tasks forgotten.

"What?" Nico asked, at the same time Ryk said, "Nico does."

I raised a brow at Ryk, and he blushed, glancing away. "Nico's already trying to get Dakota to fall for him."

"What? No, I'm not!" Nico protested, and Ryk narrowed his eyes at him.

"I read somewhere that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Isn't that why you've been making him all that food?"

"I cook for you too, you know," Nico reminded, and Ryk waved it off.

"Not our favorites, you don't."

"Okay, okay, boys. Quiet down before you wake the human," I said, and they both turned their gazes on me.

"Don't act like you aren't just as interested," Nico said, and I stared at him, confused.

"What? I'm not."

Nico

Star's protest was flimsy at best, and I rolled my eyes.

Star's usual policy was to spend as little effort in a task as he could get away with, which was why his constant interest in the topic of Dakota's love life had piqued my interest. This wasn't the first time he'd brought up the subject, and that was strange for him. Very strange.

"You so are," Ryk added, then glanced down at Moon. "If he wasn't Dakota's cat, you'd have pushed him off a long time ago."

"I wouldn't do that. I'm not cruel," Star denied with a scoff, and I chuckled.

"So you're saying you wouldn't mind if one of us started dating Dakota?" I asked, and Star pursed his lips.

"As long as it doesn't damage our friendship, sure," he said, but I could hear the note of hesitation in his voice. There was no way he didn't have feelings for Dakota. He might not have realized them, but they were there.

"Oh, I know! How about we have a competition?" Ryk suggested, and my brows furrowed.

"A competition?"

"Yeah! We all try to make Dakota fall for us, and whoever wins gets him, while those who lose accept it without any hard feelings," he suggested, and I frowned. I didn't know if I liked the idea of turning my feelings into a game.

"Or we could all have him," Star chipped in, and I glanced at him, eyes wide.

"All of us?"

"Yeah. Why not? We did it in the demon realm, didn't we?" he asked, and I sighed. But that was different, wasn't it? That had been just about sex, but would it be fair to Dakota when feelings were involved? Then again, we didn't even know if Dakota felt remotely attracted toward any of us.

"What do you think, Ryk?" I asked, and he stared down at his sketchbook.

"You two are the most important people in the world to me. If our friendship was in danger because of Dakota, I'd give up on him then and there. But I kinda like the idea of sharing him with you both."

"Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves, though? We don't even know if Dakota's interested."
