"Okay, I'll go out with you," Dakota said, and excitement coursed through me as the words clicked. Dakota had said yes.

While I'd hoped he would, I also knew humans couldn't sense mate bonds, which was why I'd been worried he'd say no. I didn't think it was the norm for humans to be in a relationship with multiple people—at least in the western culture—but I did know that they had a tendency to ignore their own wants in favor of 'fitting in.' I was glad Dakota hadn't let that stop him. Then again, after meeting his parents, I had a feeling Dakota had always been encouraged to follow his heart and be true to himself. I had a feeling his mom would actually be stoked if she found out he was going out with all three of us.

"Yes! Oh, we're going to have so much fun!" Ryk exclaimed as he jumped to his feet, and Dakota laughed softly.

"Yes, we are. Let's plan something for this weekend, yeah?" he asked, and Ryk nodded quickly.

Dakota scratched the back of his neck as he glanced at each of us in turn. "I just want to put it out there that I'm really interested in each one of you. I didn't say anything because I got the feeling you were in love with each other and I felt like I would be butting in somewhere I wasn't wanted—"

"That's not true!" Ryk exclaimed, cutting him off, and Dakota smiled up at him.

"I'm glad to hear that. I'm really looking forward to going out with all three of you."

The sincerity of his words warmed my heart, and I couldn't help reaching out to tuck a strand of his hair behind his ear. He startled at my touch, but then gave me a wide smile that made my heart skip a beat. I hadn't known he could smile so brightly, and just like that, I wanted to make him smile again.

The four of us chatted, but since it was a weekday tomorrow, Dakota finally excused himself to bed around eleven, and we went back to our rooms soon after, though it took me a while to relax and fall asleep.

Thirteen

Dakota

Did first-date jitters get tripled when you were going on a date with three people? It felt like it as I tied up my hair for the third time. I was really excited for this date, but I was nervous too.

It'd been a while since I'd gone on a date, and this was unlike any date I'd ever been on. Not only was I going out with three men; they were also my roommates. They'd also known each other for a long time, and I was worried I'd feel like an outsider crashing their date.

Ryk had managed to convince us that an escape room was the best place to spend our first date. It wasn't so much that everyone agreed than that no one could say no to Ryk. He had this sweet, puppy thing going that could melt even the coldest of hearts, and it hadn't taken him much effort to get us to agree.

We'd decided to do the escape room and then get some takeaway for dinner because Nico deserved a break from cooking.

As we'd made our plans, I'd realized just how spoiled I'd become since my new roommates moved in. I hadn't had to cook once since the first day Nico made dinner, and other than my bedroom, they'd taken over cleaning the house too. All I did was go to work and come back to hang out with them, which wasn't fair. I needed to start contributing more in some way.

When I walked into the living room after getting ready, I found Star and Nico already there, waiting for me. Nico was dressed in a form-fitting blue dress shirt and dark jeans, while Star had settled on a dark red Henley and navy blue jeans. They both looked absolutely stunning, and I felt a shiver wash through me when their eyes scanned me from head to toe. Had they always looked at me like that, and I just hadn't noticed? Or had they just hid their feelings better?

"You look really handsome," Nico said, making me smile.

"So do you. Both of you," I said, and Star smirked.

"Wait till you see Ryk," he said, and I raised a brow at him.

"Oh?"

"He has a...unique fashion sense," Star explained, and I tilted my head curiously. At home, Ryk was usually dressed in paint-stained t-shirts and jeans, and I hadn't really seen him in anything too out of the ordinary, even on the day we'd met my parents.

"Everyone ready?" Ryk called from upstairs, and I shot back a reply.

"We're all downstairs."

"Awesome!"

"Whoa." The word slipped past my lips without conscious thought as Ryk clattered down the stairs, and my eyes jumped from one part of him to the other. He wore dark, skin-tight jeans that clung to him so tightly I wondered how it wasn't uncomfortable—though it looked sexy as fuck. He'd paired that with dark red heels that added a few inches to his height. He'd put on a mesh top in a similar red color with a black shirt under it, and the red material had a glittery shine to it. His hair looked extra curly and bouncy tonight, and he'd applied some makeup, including red lipstick that kept drawing my eyes to his lips. Had they always been so full and kissable?

"So! How do I look?" he asked, then gave a twirl for our benefit. One look at his ass in those inhumanly tight jeans and I was done for. He'd been hiding his sexy-as-hell body in loose, stained clothes, and while I'd thought he was beautiful since the day I first saw him, I could see just how hot he was.

"You look perfect," I said, and Nico murmured his assent.

"You look like a tomato," Star said, earning a glare from all of us. "A sexy tomato," he amended, making Ryk huff.

"You're an ass, Star," Ryk grumbled, then walked over to me and wrapped his arms around mine. "Come on, Dakota. I call shotgun!"
