My interest is piqued, and for the first time, I look to Jan. “We tied a rope to swing from and drop into the lake. Journi didn’t let go when she was supposed to and…”

“Smacked into the tree like a cartoon character. Funny enough, I didn’t flatten into a pancake or see little stars. I did see birds flying, though.”

Jan snorts. “Because you shook them from the tree.”

“It was dark!” Journi shouts.

“Okay, everyone but the nurse and patient leave.” Jan looks around to see she’s the only other one. She flips me off and leaves the room.

I trace my fingers around the fragile bone of her wrist and whisper, “We’ve got to stop meeting like this. If you wanted to see me, you could’ve just come by. You didn’t need a medical reason.”

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

Her nipples are hard and at attention in her still damp swimsuit. I can’t help but wonder if it’s from the air conditioning or me. She notices where my hungry eyes are looking. I bite my bottom lip and wink.

After a thorough examination, her wrist is wrapped for the sprain. I go ahead and give her a sling to help get her arm elevated and stable. Plus, it offers extra protection. I tell Jan and Journi that for the next couple of days she shouldn’t do any heavy lifting and not to use her right arm as much as possible.

As they leave, I whisper in Journi’s ear, “Lucky for you, you’ll have a doctor handy. Don’t be afraid to ask me for anything.”

I don’t miss her quick intake of breath and delight as I see the slight shiver that runs through her body.

Chapter 11

Journi

I can’t believe I sprained my wrist, and ended up with those damn sexy fingers on me. I’d hoped when I woke up this morning it would’ve all had been a nightmare, but no such luck. As I walk through the kitchen for a cup coffee, Sophia Bryce is there. I seriously contemplated turning around and walking my ass back out. But she stands and places her cup in the sink. As she walks past me, she curls her lips in disgust. “The lengths some women will go to for the attention of a man.”

My good hand reaches out and grips her arm. I take a moment to study her perfectly styled hair. Expensive makeup expertly applied. Her designer clothing and the sweet scent of her high-dollar perfume. This woman is exactly the type who bullied me in school. I might even have more money than her, but she considers me beneath her.

“Could you please pour me a cup of coffee?” The look on her face is comical. I wait for her snide remark, but then a lower voice interrupts us.

“Good morning.” It’s Cruz. “How are you feeling?”

“Fine.” His mother and I both answer.

“I think he was asking about my wrist,” I tell her sweetly. Then I decide to really push her buttons. “Would you like some coffee? Your sweetheart of a mother offered to pour me a cup. I’m sure she would for you as well, Christopher. Or should I say,” I pretend to blush, “Dr. Bryce.”

Though she doesn’t say anything, her eyes are practically screaming a giant ladylike fuck you while shooting imaginary laser beams at me. She’s most likely going to spit in my coffee, or add a few drops of poison, but this moment will be worth it.

Jan has been by my side almost the entire day, but it’s time for a break. I convince her to go off with her husband for some kinky lake sex while Jason probably watches as he sharpens his machete. Is it a machete that he uses? I really need to watch those movies again. Finally alone and I’m in heaven. But everything is fine until my bladder needs to be emptied.

I’m struggling to not pee myself as I one-handedly tug my pants down. I can’t figure out how my leggings went on so easily but are now refusing to go down. A soft knock on the door has me pausing in panic.

“Let me in. I hear you huffing and puffing in there,” Cruz says from the other side of the door.

“Go away.”

“Let me help.”

“I’ve got this.”

“Open this door before you injure yourself worse.” When he senses my hesitation, he continues, “You’re only hurting yourself. Please. I am your doctor.”

I reluctantly open the door. “You’re not my doctor.”

He doesn’t argue, but instead calmly grabs each side of my leggings and slides them down, along with my panties. Then he hoists me onto the toilet.

“Is this necessary—” But my bladder finally emptying itself stops me mid-sentence. My eyes fall shut as I turn my chin up in blissful relief. When I feel the burning gaze of a set of eyes, I peek out of one eye to see Cruz wearing a faint smile.
