I step to go after him, but Fay grabs my arm. “Don’t,” she says.

My head snaps toward her and Arya nods in agreement. “You know going after him will just piss you off more.”

I glance toward him one more time. He’s laughing with a group of people, and it makes my blood boil. He shouldn’t be able to get under my skin the way he does after all this time, but damn I can’t help it. Everything he does pisses me off.

“You’re better than him, Leah. Stop allowing him to get the best of you,” Fay whispers.

Oh, I know I’m better than him. I’m a better person. I’m a better friend.

And I’m the best tattoo artist.

Chapter 2

Corbin

“Thanks, man, make sure you stay out of the pool until it’s healed,” I say.

This client is an Olympic swimming hopeful and if he is selected, the world will see my artwork. It’s pretty fucking cool.

“No worries, not looking to fuck up this masterpiece,” he replies.

The masterpiece he is talking about is a Sailfish, the world's fastest swimming fish, which starts on his side and ends on his chest. It looks as if it’s jumping through the water. It’s a kickass tattoo. A perfect representation of this Olympic hopeful.

After he leaves and I get everything cleaned up and sanitized, I walk out into the waiting room. This shop is a dream come true. I put everything on the line to get it up and running. Now I’m finally out of the red and I’m making more money than I ever imagined I would. It’s so busy that I brought my two best friends in to work for me.

I met both Waylen and Harry when we were just a bunch of kids looking to become tattoo artists. Now, the three of us run this shop and are living the life we always dreamed of.

“Hey man, that Sailfish was fucking amazing,” Waylen says, slapping my back.

I grin and lift my chin toward him. “Thanks, he was a champ. Didn’t even flinch.”

“Takes all the fun out of it,” he says, laughing.

I join in as the front door opens. A beautiful woman walks in and Waylen nearly knocks me over going to talk to her. I shake my head and go look at the schedule for the day. We rarely do walk-ins anymore, but if it’s something simple that won’t take up much time, we still like to help. Sometimes it takes a person all the courage in the world just to walk through the door and turning them away means they might miss out on a kickass tattoo. If it’s possible we will give them what they want.

“Corbin, she wants you,” Waylen says, narrowing his eyes at me.

I chuckle and stand up from behind the desk. She pushes her tits out further and I hold back a laugh. She’s so obvious and it’s not sexy at all. I like a bit of a chase.

“Hey darling, how can I help you?” I say, walking toward her.

She bites her plump lip and searches my eyes. “That’s a loaded question.”

I wink and look around the shop. “Not when you walk into my shop, it’s all about the tattoos.”

She realizes her mistake and straightens herself. “Right, sorry. I’m looking to get a small tattoo of a Swallow on my hip.”

A Swallow. I hate that bird. I hate that tattoo.

“Well, my man, Waylen here happens to be one of the best Swallow tattoo artists around. Why don’t you go back with him and see if he can get something drawn up before his scheduled client gets here?” I say, nodding.

She forces a grin and looks toward Waylen. “Alright.”

“Follow me, sweetheart,” he says.

“You know avoiding tattooing a Swallow isn’t going to make Leah go away,” Harry says.

I turn toward him and raise an eyebrow. “That princess takes up no space in my head. I hate that tattoo. There’s nothing more to it.”
