It’s something we both deserve, and I couldn’t be more excited.

“So, we’ll all meet at Sabbath Ink tomorrow at noon and get this started,” Lucas says, sticking his hand out. “I’m excited to work with you both.”

Leah and I shake his hand and he pays for the drinks before leaving.

“Holy shit, princess. This is like a goddamn dream,” I say, pressing my lips to hers.

She doesn’t seem as excited and I lean back, searching her face. “What’s wrong?”

Her eyebrows raise as she stares at me. “Why are we doing it at your shop?”

“What?” I ask, as my eyebrows dip.

“He said we’ll meet tomorrow at Sabbath Ink. Why not Inkify?”

I chuckle and reach for her hand. “Who cares what shop it’s at. We’ve just landed an opportunity of a lifetime.”

She slowly shakes her head as she pulls her hand away from mine. “So, if he said we’ll meet at Inkify tomorrow, you’d be cool with that? You’d be fine that my shop was getting the recognition while yours sat cold and alone?”

I pull back, surprised at her attitude. “Are you serious? I wouldn’t care if we were tattooing in the fucking alley. This isn’t about the shop, it’s about our design.”

She gives a hollow laugh as she grabs her purse. “Okay, so I’ll just call Lucas and tell him we’ll do it at Inkify.”

“Hell no. We aren’t going to make him change the plan now. It makes us looks like damn fools,” I say.

She laughs again and stands up. “That’s what I thought.”

“Leah, come on. You’re making a big deal out of nothing,” I say, shaking my head.

“Am I? Because in this industry I have had to fight harder and work longer to prove myself. Sure, my name will be mentioned as a collaborator, but will that matter when all the photos are of your shop? Are they going to seek out Inkify after seeing Sabbath Ink all over? You know damn well they aren’t. They are all going to go to your shop, and you’ll be the one gaining the success from this, not me,” she says, grabbing her phone off the table.

“Seriously? You’re fucking jealous? I thought we were past all that shit,” I angrily say.

She shakes her head and walks away. She fucking walks away. Oh hell no.

I charge out behind her and grab her arm as she tries rushing down the street. “Hold on a minute. You aren’t just going to turn your back on me like that. This is bullshit jealousy that has no place in the collaboration or our relationship. Why are you being such a bitch about it?” I ask.

She pulls back, yanking her arm out of my hold, with wide eyes. “A bitch? Wow, Corbin. I guess a leopard can’t change its spots. You don’t feel differently about me because if you did, you’d do something to fix this. You said you never wanted to cause me anger or pain again, but guess what? That’s exactly what you’re doing. You only care about you and I shouldn’t have believed otherwise. You got what you wanted right? Sex and Hollywood popularity.”

I give a humorless laugh as I cross my arms. “That’s what you think, princess? You really think everything I’ve said and done is a lie?” I step closer to her and narrow my eyes. “Guess I shouldn’t have believed a princess could ever be a queen.”

“Fuck you,” she says, as a tear runs down her cheek.

She turns and walks away, and I let her.

I watch her walk away and I swear she takes my damn heart with her.

I close my eyes and fight against the pain that is shredding me apart inside. Taking a deep breath I turn and head toward Sabbath.

When I get inside, Waylen and Harry come rushing over, but I completely ignore them and head straight to my office. Once inside, I lock the door and reach over knocking everything off my desk onto the floor. The sound of things shattering matches the way I feel.

It’s not enough though. I push over the desk, throw the chair, and punch the wall so hard the sheetrock is left crumbling.

“Fuck,” I shout, pulling at my hair.

“Corbin, what the fuck man, open the door,” Harry says, knocking.

I close my eyes and scrub my face. “Harry, get the fuck away from this door before I reach through it and beat your fucking ass.”
