I took a couple of deep breaths to calm myself. “I’m fine.”

“Okay. That’s good, but what has you so worked up?”

“Blaine Roberts is here.” I couldn’t stop the grin that spread across my face even though Simone couldn’t see me.

“Here? Like in Santa Barbara?”

“No. Like here at the resort.”

“Are you serious?” she shrieked, and I had to pull the phone away from my ear for a second.

“That’s not all. We ran into each other on the beach and talked for like thirty minutes.” I didn’t think it was necessary to tell her he’d accused me of being a paparazzo and spying on him or that he’d seen me crying while sitting alone.

“Oh my god, you talked to the hottest guy in Hollywood? I’m so jealous.”

I sat on the bed. “Well, get ready to be even more jealous because he invited me to dinner tonight.”

“Shut up!”

“Mama, that’s a bad word,” Stella shouted in the background.

“Yeah, Mom.” I laughed. “Anyway, I have no idea what I’m going to wear. Help me.”

“Calm down. I’m sure you packed something that will work. You’ve got the best fashion sense out of all of us.”

She wasn’t wrong. I may have had a slight shopping addiction, but what kind of girl didn’t love buying new clothes? I pulled everything out of my suitcase and laid the clothing on the bed. “I’m going to FaceTime you, so you can help me choose.”

When the video connected, I turned the camera around so she could see what I was working with.

“Damn, girl. How long were you planning on staying there?”

I looked at the six pairs of jeans, four sweaters, three hoodies, and various blouses. “Okay, I may have over-packed.”

“You think?”

I flipped the camera around and stuck my tongue out. “It’s a good thing I did. I was tempted to only bring my pajamas and some joggers. That would have been a disaster.”

“Yes. For once, your indecisiveness came in handy.”

“Bitch.” I winked. “Now tell me what to pick.”

“Did he tell you where you were going?”

I shook my head. “I guess we’re going to decide when I meet him later.”

“In that case, I think you should go with the gray sweater and dark blue skinny jeans. It should work regardless of where you end up. Did you bring your gray suede booties?” I arched a brow and she rolled her eyes. “Of course, you did.”

“I think that’s the best option too. Thank you so much.”

“Any time. And Kayla?”

“Yeah?”

“Make sure to wear your nicest lingerie. I know you packed some.”

I frowned. “I don’t think anyone is going to see my underwear tonight.”

“You keep telling yourself that.”
