“How many brothers do you have?”

I had to keep the questions on an innocent trajectory.

“There’s four of us.”

“Your poor mother,” I responded with a laugh.

“Hey now. I take offense to that,” he joked.

“I only meant there had to be plenty of rowdy days in your house.” I laughed and picked up my drink, taking a bigger sip than before.

“You have no idea, darlin’.”

His hand moved from in between us to my knee, and he made small circular motions with his finger, causing me to gasp.

“You go doing things like that, and my thoughts go to places they probably shouldn’t, beautiful,” he whispered in my ear, causing me to shiver.

“What if I want them to go places they shouldn’t?”

The moment the words escaped, I shocked myself. I’d never been so brazen before. I’d never just come out and said something I wanted so boldly to a man.

“How much have you had to drink?” he practically growled as he turned his body to face mine.

“This is my second drink, and I had a lemon drop shot,” I confessed as I looked into his eyes. I could get lost in those blue eyes for hours. They were the color of the ocean right now, deep blue and stormy. I wondered if they changed colors like mine did based on my emotions because I could’ve sworn they were lighter moments ago.

“Did you mean what you said about my thoughts going where they shouldn’t? Because I have to tell you, beautiful, a man like me can only be tempted so much before he gives in.”

I could only nod my response at his admission.

“What hotel are you staying in?”

“The one across the street.”

“Me too. Wanna get outta here?”

“Yes,” I whispered, picking up my drink and downing the rest.

He grabbed my hand, all but pulling me out of the booth as he led me down the stairs through the club and to the exit.

Once we were outside, he told me to text my friends and let them know I’d be in room 1153.

Pulling my phone out of my back pocket, I did as he asked. Ramiro would likely worry until I came back to our room later tonight, but to hell with it. He’d had his fair share of one-night stands. Just because I was a woman, didn’t mean I couldn’t have mine.

I turned off my notifications as soon as I sent the text because I knew I’d be bombarded by a thousand messages with various questions, and I didn’t want to ruin the moment with the constant vibration of my phone.

With my hand in his, he led us across the street to the hotel.

You only live once, right?

Chapter 2

Alora

He pulled me behind him as we hurried through the hotel lobby and into the open elevator doors.

His finger pressed the button for his floor repeatedly until the doors closed.

I walked backward until my back met the elevator wall.
