“Turns out Mr. Tony Williams has warrants in Washington state for stalking, harassment, theft, and possession of illegal firearms.”

“What?” Violet gasps, and I see her tighten her hold on the blanket she’s wrapped herself in. “Really?”

“Officers are going to the resort now to arrest him.”

“What will happen?”

“Marcus told me that unfortunately, he can’t be charged with stalking you,” I tell her. “Even if his prints match the ones on the coloring book, he made no threats, violent or otherwise.”

She nods in understanding. “Sam told me that too.”

“But he’ll be extradited to Washington state as soon as possible and will be their problem. Marcus is going to talk to Sam about the possibility of charging the resort for negligence since they didn’t run any background checks on their employees,” I tell her.

“I’m sure Sam will be able to do something,” she states confidently and snuggles into the couch further.

“We need to discuss what happened tonight. It’s time to pay up, little professor,” I tell her, crooking my finger at her. She slowly throws off the fluffy throw, uncurls herself from the corner of the sofa, and shuffles toward me. “You’ve been naughty.”

“Please, Daddy,” she says, standing before me.

“Little girls are supposed to let their daddies take care of them,” I tell her, scowling. “You put yourself in danger tonight.”

“How?”

“How?” I ask incredulously, setting my hands on her hips.

The old fear of finding the perfect woman only to find out she isn’t a little rears its ugly head. I need someone to look to me for safety and support.

Giving myself a moment, I realize Violet does need me. I was the one she came to when she received the coloring book. She called me to ask for my help finding her stalker. She’s also self-assured, independent, and doesn’t wait for life to happen for her—all things that, despite seeming to contradict my needs, attract me to her. Every day I’m falling more in love with her.

“What would’ve happened if he realized it was you texting him?”

“I didn’t leave the booth.” My little girl shrugs. “You were there, so I knew I was safe. Plus, I called you.”

“You’re right, baby,” I say gently, pulling her close. “But at the very least, you should have told me your plan. What if he had figured out it was you girls texting him? Marcus found weapons in his locker at the resort.”

“It was totally spur of the moment!” she exclaims, wrapping her arms around my neck. “We didn’t plan it before we arrived, Daddy.”

“I still need to spank you because you knowingly put yourself in danger by baiting him, but—” I pause and watch her bite her lip. “It’ll be the fun kind.”

Her eyes light up. She shifts side to side with excitement, knowing I’ll give her pleasure. Lifting my hand off her hip, I give her round ass a solid swat. She jumps, moving closer to me.

“Daddy.” Her voice is almost breathless.

Chapter 14

Violet

“Give me those, little professor,” Etienne says, coming to the side of my car where I’m unloading several bags I brought to spend the weekend.

I love coming to Etienne’s sprawling lakefront house after a long day on campus. In the short time we’ve been together, his house is starting to feel more like home than my tiny apartment. It may be cheesy, but wherever Daddy is feels like home.

“Thank you, Daddy,” I chirp, handing him the bags and giving him several playful kisses that have him chuckling against my lips. “I missed you today.”

We couldn’t grab lunch or coffee together like we try to do most days. Etienne was busy delivering his inventory of prints to various gift shops in the area, while I was on campus. I revised my textbook, The A to Z of Photography, met with students, spent time in the library making the final tweaks to the displays before parents' weekend, and grabbed a long lunch with Samantha.

“You too, baby.” He grins at me. “But we have the entire weekend together."

Grabbing my purse from the front seat, I close the car door and follow Etienne up the familiar walkway and into the house.
