And the reality that I just had my first orgasm that wasn’t delivered from myself, on my boss’s lap on his couch after eating lobster and steak and nursing him back from a laughing gas overdose—it’s too much.

It’s beyond inappropriate, right?

This is an HR violation a million times over.

This is Monday Night movie material right here.

I cover my face with my hands, but I don’t move just yet. Because truthfully, I don’t think my legs are even working.

“Oh my gosh, I die,” I whisper. “This is so bad.”

“What just happened was not bad, Mazie. It was fucking beautiful.” He pulls my hands away from my face.

I shake my head. “That’s never happened. You know, the big finale…”

“You’ve never orgasmed?” His thumb traces my bottom lip.

“I mean, on my own, of course. Oh my gosh, why am I telling you this?” I squeeze my eyes closed. “Not with a man.”

“Then I feel like the luckiest guy on the fucking planet.”

“Okay, I need to leave. This shouldn’t have happened. I’m so sorry.” I jump to my feet and hurry toward my purse. “I really need this job, Aidan.”

He narrows his gaze as he pushes to his feet. “You’re not going to lose your job. I’ll say it again—I’m not your boss. Jack is.”

“Listen. This has been fun. Really fun. And in another lifetime, you’d be annoyed by how all over this I would be. But office romances are a hard line for me. I mean, you obviously wouldn’t know it by the way I just straddled and dry-humped you.” I threw my hands in the air. “But no. It can’t happen again. Let’s call this a moment of weakness. A lapse in judgment.”

“Or we can call it what it is.”

I pull my purse strap over my shoulder and reach for the doorknob. “What is it, Aidan?”

“Two people that are attracted to one another. Two people who enjoy each other. Two people who have had incredible conversation tonight, even when one of them is coming down from a dental overdose. It’s not easy to find that, Mazie. Trust me when I tell you. This pull between us—it’s rare. It’s special.”

“It’s not happening.” I yank the door open and leave.

Chapter 10

Aidan

The next few days are awkward. A. Because I’m still coming down from what that fucker Dr. Douchedick did to me. He’s just as twisted as his daughter. B. I’ve got maybe the worst case of blue balls known to man. I can’t get the vision of Mazie rocking against my cock until she cried out my name out of my head. C. I’ve got a bad case of the shits because I spent the last two nights eating more chocolate-covered fruit than any one person ever should. Did I mention that I’m lactose intolerant? And Dr. Douchedick sent the largest arrangement that I’ve ever seen. Clearly, Mazie laid it on thick. And D…I told my mother what happened because she and my father need to find a new dentist and she wouldn’t agree to change until I admitted what happened. Because I’ll be damned if I’m going to let him take their money after what he did to me. And to say that my mother unraveled in epic proportion would be an understatement.

“Are you okay?” Jack asks as he stops in the doorway of my office. “You’ve been in here all day.”

“Yes, of course. Just going over the calendar for next week’s meetings.”

“How is Mazie working out? She seems to be doing a fine job this week now that she’s completely taken over.”

Oh, she’s doing a fine job all right. No question about it.

At the office.

At my apartment.

In my every fucking fantasy.

“She’s great, yes.”

“Aidan,” Emma shouts from down the hall, and I jump to my feet from the alarm in her voice. “You need to get in here.”
