The gravelly tone nearly melted Stella’s spine as her legs turned to Jell-O. Stella burned to touch Avery and was afraid her heat might just melt her dress right off her body before they even made it to the room.

Stella’s neck tingled as the words and hot breath caressed her while she finally received the key. It had been so long since she’d done anything like this. Part of her was worried she’d wake up tomorrow with regrets, but Avery was pulling her into the elevator, and any potential shame stayed in the lobby.

Turning her against the elevator door, Avery nibbled along her neck. One particularly enthusiastic bite would leave a mark. Even with a meeting next week with some producers, she couldn’t find the will to care, too wrapped up in the feeling of Avery and her delectable mouth.

The door dinged on their floor. Stella pushed off the wall and stumbled into the hall, wondering where to turn for their room. All her blood had rushed from her head, warming up other parts of her body.

Avery glanced at the number listed on the sleeve of the card and studied the signs. “It looks like it’s this way.” Avery took her hand and led her down the hall.

After sliding the key card into the door, it clicked open. In the quiet hallway, it sounded like a scream, a mark of no turning back. Stella pushed the handle down and swung the door open. “After you.” She held her hand in front of her, letting Avery in first.

Avery kicked off her shoes before wrapping her arms under Stella’s ass and lifting her. An undignified squeak left her lips, but not a protest. Pure reflex brought Stella’s feet around, hooking over Avery’s hips. She was shocked Avery could carry her and was more than turned on by the action. Stella moaned when the thin fabric of her underwear rubbed along Avery’s belt.

Avery walked them to the bed. “There are a few things I’ve been aching to try with you, and unfortunately, this is not the ideal position for them.” Avery leaned in, and Stella met her halfway, their tongues intertwined in a kiss.

Stella’s world tipped when Avery dipped her onto the bed, but their lips continued to come together in a bruising manner. She hadn’t unlocked her legs from around Avery’s waist as they both rocked their hips.

Avery’s fingertips dug into her upper thighs. When Stella’s legs fell from Avery’s hips, she lifted herself off, leaving Stella bereft at the loss, but she was quickly on the mend when Avery ripped off her own shirt. Stella raised up on her forearms to watch Avery strip.

“Your legs were one of the first things I noticed about you. There is something about a woman in heels that sets me ablaze.” Avery slid off one shoe, lightly massaging the arches of Stella’s foot before working on the next one.

“These old things?” Stella’s voice dipped when Avery wiggled out of her pants. “Have mercy,” she moaned.

“You’ll only find mercy after you’ve had a few orgasms.” Avery pinned her down, kissing along her neck. She reached lower to locate the hem of her dress. “Why is this still on?” She tsked.

“I was too busy watching you undress.” Feeling a tug on the fabric of her dress, Stella sat up slightly.

Avery grunted as she ripped the garment over Stella’s head, kissing the exposed skin. Stella’s body was buzzing as she leaned forward to release the fabric.

The air conditioning cooled her overheated skin as she watched Avery take her in. “Beautiful.”

The one word caressed her skin and settled in her mind, receiving the compliment with ease.

Stella moaned when Avery hovered over her again, this time trailing nips and kisses down her stomach on the way to her throbbing core. She watched the journey with nervous anticipation as Avery used her teeth to lower her underwear.

Free from the fabric, Stella watched Avery’s hungry gaze land on her. Avery licked her lips before burying her face between her legs. Stella saw stars, already well on her way to the promised few orgasms. She pulled the nearest pillow over her head to her mouth and bit down in hopes of muffling her escalating moans. The last thought she had before her mind turned to blissful mush was how happy she was she’d walked into that bar.

Chapter 2

No morning sex

Avery’s arm grazed against the pillow as she reached across the bed. Her unconscious mind sought out the companionship she’d had the night before.

It wasn’t until she fully climbed out of sleep that she realized Stella wasn’t in the room. Flinging the covers off, Avery stood and cringed at the feel of scratchy carpet below her feet. Scanning the room for her socks, her eyes landed on the chair, tucked in the corner. All her clothes were folded in a neat pile. “Southern hospitality at its finest, I see,” Avery said to no one as she shuffled from one foot to the other, putting on her socks, followed by the rest of her clothes.

Scratching her side as she yawned, she walked to the bathroom, knocking on the closed door. She didn’t expect an answer, but the sting of disappointment was a surprise. She’d been hoping for a repeat of last night but was also genuinely disheartened at not getting to spend more time with Stella.

Avery brushed her teeth, reflecting on the prior night. She’d purposefully not washed her hands yet, enjoying Stella’s scent lingering on her fingers. Upon reflection, part of her saw the beauty of not having to partake in the awkward dance of the morning after. The memory wouldn’t be tarnished with an ending. Instead, she could reminisce with fondness.

They hadn’t discussed seeing each other again, so Avery was forced to face that last night was all she would get from the captivating Stella. A memory she could turn to for comfort or even when she needed some inspiration. She brought a hand to her heated cheeks as the scene of Stella riding her face played out in her head. She hadn’t vibed with someone like that in a long while. If the scratches down her arms were any indication, they also both enjoyed rough play in bed.

Avery finished in the bathroom. “Down, girl. You won’t be getting any of that for a while.” She returned to the bed, where a piece of white paper with her name on it caught her eye.

Avery: It seems poor manners not to say goodbye, but I have an early meeting. It’s a shame because I would have put your talented mouth to good use this morning. Breakfast is paid for. Just order when you’re ready. XO Stella.

The gesture was sweet, but the lack of phone number had Avery canceling her plans to try and stalk Stella on social media. They both knew this was nothing more than a hookup. Clearly, if Stella wanted to meet up again, she’d have left her contact information. Sighing, Avery tucked the note into her pocket before calling down for some toast and coffee.

Avery wasn’t usually an early breakfast person, but the buttered toast surprisingly hit the spot she needed to refuel after last night's festivities. Finally ready to face the day, she called the only number she had on speed dial.
