Aria’s smile grows wider at the suggestion, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I’d like that,” she replies softly, her voice filled with warmth and affection. “I’d like that a lot.”

And as we sit there watching the town’s lights twinkle in the distance, I feel a sense of completeness wash over me. Tonight has been more than just a date; it’s been a reminder of the depth of our connection and a promise of the bright future that lies ahead for us if we can work together towards it. And as we toast to the storms yet to come, I know that no matter what lies ahead, as long as we have each other, we can weather any storm.

As we walk hand in hand through the city streets, the warmth of the evening air enveloping us, I can feel my heart pounding in my chest. The words I’ve been longing to say hang heavy on the tip of my tongue, begging to be released into the night. With each step we take, the anticipation builds, and the weight of my confession presses down on me like a heavy burden.

Finally, unable to contain my emotions any longer, I come to a stop and turn to face Aria, my heart pounding in my chest. “Aria,” I begin, my voice trembling with emotion. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

Aria looks at me, her eyes filled with curiosity and a hint of apprehension. “What is it, Cade?” she asks, her voice soft and gentle.

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what’s to come. “I...I still love you,” I finally manage to say, the words spilling out in a rush of emotion. “I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember, and I can’t imagine my life without you.”

For a moment, there’s silence between us, the weight of my confession hanging heavy in the air. And then, to my joyous surprise, Aria’s face breaks into a wide smile, her eyes shining with tears of happiness. “Cade,” she murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper. “I love you too.”

Tears of joy spring to my eyes as I pull her into my arms, holding her close as if afraid she might disappear if I let go. “I can’t believe it,” I whisper, my voice choked with emotion. “I didn’t think you would feel the same way, so I was kind of worried.”

Aria pulls back slightly, her eyes meeting mine with a look of love and adoration. “I’ve loved you for so long, Cade,” she confesses, her voice filled with sincerity.

My heart overflows with love for this incredible woman standing before me. “I’ve never stopped loving you either,” I assure her, my voice filled with conviction. “And I never will.”

With those words hanging in the air between us, we continue our journey back to the car, our steps are light and free, the weight of our expressed love lifting us up like wings.

As we pull up to Aria’s house, the tension in the air is palpable, a stark contrast to the joyous atmosphere we had just moments ago. I glance over at her, concern etched into my features as I take in the sight of Ethan standing on her doorstep with a scowl on his face.

Aria’s expression darkens as she catches sight of him, a flicker of apprehension passing through her eyes. “Oh no,” she murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper. “It’s Ethan.”

My heart sinks as I realize the gravity of the situation. Ethan does not look pleased to see us together, and I can’t help but feel a little bit jealous and overly protective. “Do you want me to stay?” I asked, my voice tinged with concern.

Aria shakes her head, her eyes fixed on Ethan’s figure standing in the doorway. “No, it’s okay,” she replies, her voice trembling slightly. “I’ll handle it.”

Reluctantly, I nod, knowing that this is something Aria needs to deal with on her own. “Okay,” I say softly, reaching out to squeeze her hand in a gesture of support. “Just let me know if you need anything, okay?”

With a heavy heart, I watch as Aria steps out of the car and makes her way towards Ethan, her shoulders squared, and her chin held high. I can’t hear their conversation from where I’m sitting, but I can see the tension in Ethan’s body language, the way his fists clench at his sides as he speaks.

Minutes pass like hours, each second stretching out into an eternity as I wait anxiously for Aria to return. Finally, Ethan walks away, looking disappointed, and Aria walks back to my car. I get out to meet her.

“I’m sorry about that,” she says, her voice tinged with trepidation. “Ethan deserves to know about us rekindling our relationship.”

I reach out to brush a stray lock of hair from her face, my heart aching at the sight of her troubled expression. “Are you okay?” I ask, my voice filled with concern.

Aria nods, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. “I’ll be fine,” she replies, her voice stronger now. “I’m glad you told me how you feel about me, Cade. It means a lot to me.”

I return her smile and pull her into a hug, relieved to see that she’s okay. “I love you, Aria.” My voice filled with sincerity. “I’m here for you, no matter what.”

With that, we share a lingering embrace before she turns to make her way inside, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

Chapter eleven

ARIA

Cade’s voice trembles with emotion as he calls my name, coming to a halt. My heart skips a beat, anticipation fluttering in my chest at his serious tone. “What is it, Cade?” I ask, my voice soft and gentle, my eyes searching for any hint of what’s to come.

With a deep breath, he says, “I...I still love you,” he confesses, the words tumbling out in a rush, and my heart swells with emotion at his declaration. “I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember, and I can’t imagine my life without you.”

My heart is bursting with joy. I never expected him to confess his feelings so soon. “Cade,” I breathe, barely above a whisper, my heart soaring with happiness. “I love you too.”

As he pulls me into his arms, I feel a surge of warmth and affection, as if I’m being wrapped in a blanket of pure love. “I can’t believe it,” he murmurs, his voice thick with emotion, and I can’t help but laugh through my tears. “I didn’t think you’d feel the same way, so I was kind of worried.”

Pulling back slightly, I meet his gaze, my eyes shining with love and adoration for the man who holds my heart. “I’ve loved you for so long, Cade,” I confess, my voice filled with sincerity, and I can see the love reflected in his eyes. “And I still do.”
