“Why?” Silas asks. “Why does it matter?”

I glance at them again and think about Scarlet and Barren. The infamous Raptore pack with their new omega Missy. Happiness. I want that for Dylan.

“Because the answer will determine whether I actively go against you or whether I help you.”

“You’re aware you work for me.” Falcon says with amusement.

“I’m aware of that, sir, but you gave me to Dylan and told me to treat him well. Protecting him and helping him find happiness is part of my job.”

“Is it now?” Falcon almost purrs.

“Why? Why would you help us?” Silas asks. There’s so much distrust in this alpha.

“I’m not helping you. I’m helping Dylan. It’s been a long time since I had a friend. He chose me. It’s the least I can do.” There is a regret inside me that is so heavy it weighs me down.

“Some might call this above and beyond,” Grayson murmurs. “Others call it being meddlesome.”

My temper snaps. “Do you want my help or not? Because you three suck at wooing him back.”

“And what do you get out of it?”

“Nothing. I want nothing. If anything, I want the board wiped clean for what you’ve done for Silver.”

“Silas, get the footage.” Falcon snaps.

Silas grumbles but pulls out his phone. A moment later, a TV descends from the ceiling. The screen turns on. Silas walks out of the bathroom in a towel and stops.

You can see him arguing with a woman. He points down the hallway and shakes his head.

A moment later, Falcon and Grayson appear. A door opens, and the female throws herself at Silas, kissing him hard. Dylan appears on the bottom screen, watches long enough to completely shatter him, then turns and runs.

A moment later, Silas throws her off, and security appears.

“Huh.”

“What?” Silas growls defensively.

“Curious question.” I warn with a finger up. I'm hesitant to ask this, to offend them.

“Yes.” Falcon says in a dangerously low voice.

“Why doesn’t he trust you enough to listen to you, to hear you out?”

Silas drops his head in his hands. “My mother. She kept making comments about Dylan being male. About heirs. About a female omega she picked for us.”

I blink twice and sit back. “Huh.”

“What now?” Falcon asks with a tinge of annoyance.

“Nothing, it's just…nothing.” I sit forward. “What makes you think he wants you back?”

Silas presses his screen a few more times and another video loads. I can see a gym and Grayson and Dylan. The Dylan on the screen jumps off the treadmill and charges Grayson. The kiss is hot, explosive; it shakes my entire world, and it’s on a screen.

I clear my throat and avert my eyes. But I feel cold. Hurt, even. I have no claim to him.

“That was this morning.” Falcon says.

“I see.” Is my voice too high?
