I listen to them chatting about the business and then catch a mention of the gardens.

“I can’t wait to see them. When is the first tour?” I ask.

Gray sits up slowly. “You want to see the gardens?”

I bounce and turn to him with a smile. “Of course. The sheer mastery behind their creation is a once in this lifetime. The creator is one of your employees, isn’t it? I’ve seen some of the smaller ones in photographs. I've always wanted to see the Gardens of Treyfield for myself.”

Dylan and Gray exchange a look before Gray gleefully pulls me into his arms and hugs me, laughing.

“Okay, you are my favourite person.”

I glance at the others for clues, but they are tight-lipped. “Um, why?”

Falcon closes the fridge. I can’t help it, but just looking at him causes a frisson of awareness through me. “Grayson designed and oversaw the creation of every garden.”

“What?” I shriek. “I mean, I knew you worked on them, but you designed them? They’re incredible.”

He laughs.

I struggle and twist in his grip before gripping his cheeks. “You’re the brilliant mind behind those perfect gardens?”

Gray laughs and then kisses me hard. I respond by throwing my arms around him and kissing him back before I freeze and tear myself away.

“Ha.” Gray says smugly. “You forgot to hate me,” he sings and winks teasingly.

“What are you all playing at?” I think my words are quiet, but it silences all four of them.

Falcon tilts his head to the side and watches me intently. “We’re not playing at anything.”

That statement doesn’t instill me with anything but more questions. I lift my chin and stand up.

“There will be no more kissing.” I say firmly.

Dylan clears his throat. I look at him, and there’s a large part of me devastated with my proclamation.

Falcon puts the milk back in the fridge and stalks towards me. I back up, but I don’t get far before Dylan’ scent surrounds me.

“No more kissing, huh?” Falcon sounds positively delighted.

“No!” I try to say firmly.

He leans in close, his lips stopping but a hair’s breadth from mine. “Fine, no kissing until you ask nicely.”

I scoff. “Not going to happen.”

He reaches out and runs one finger down the centre of my chest, stopping just above my naval. My whole body gets shivers, and my lungs lock down, refusing to let me breathe in or out.

“There are plenty of other ways to seduce you.”

My jaw drops. He just laughs as he walks away.

Though my bed remained free of uninvited guests, my mind did not. All night, I tossed and turned, playing everything over and over. The only conclusion I came to in those long hours before the sun rose is that I’m doing a disservice to that omega. I could throw myself into this situation and really experience, grow some memories for my life. The truth is that I want Dylan, but I want his alphas, too.

Instead of having breakfast in the penthouse, I make a break for it and disappear downstairs where I can get some space to think. I’m too busy peering over my shoulder to catch the movement in front of me. My arm’s gripped in a painful hold, tearing a shocked squeak from me. Silver hauls me into the yellow sitting room and pushes me up against the wall.
