I stare, my heart thudding hard in my chest. He’s willingly embracing a member of our pack. He allowed us to give him some relief earlier. Is this actually working?

“Can we watch a movie or something?” Onyx asks.

“Sure.” Falcon sets it up and then bring over drinks and snacks.

She glances back and sees him sitting alone. I can almost see her brain working. I wait, wondering if she’ll be brave. Most people aren’t with Falcon, he is terrifying.

She heaves a sigh, crawls over my lap, grips my hand, and then leans into him.

Falcon’s surprised. It might not be visible for the rest of the mortals, but I can see the shock in his eyes. It fades after a while, and he gets comfortable, rubbing her head with his long fingers. I lift her hand and kiss the back of it.

It’s the most peaceful night we’ve had…in ever.

And all because of this beta who refuses to give up and continues to surprise us. I find my eyes drawn back to her and Dylan over and over and note that I’m not the only one.

Ican’t stop looking at them, even when I know I should look away. My cheeks have one setting at the moment, and that is scorching. And though that seems to give Gray joy, Silas’ wicked and watchful eye is the one making me feel unsteady.

I glance at Falcon beside me in the lift and exhale again. He’s in a white shirt with a dark blue jacket over the top. He looks untouchable. Yesterday, in the room when I’d looked through the glass, his eyes had roamed down my body and back up before stopping on my face. The bulge in his pants had been unmistakable. But he hadn’t uncrossed his arms, he hadn’t touched himself.

He reaches out and presses the emergency button. I let out a squeak when the lift shudders to a stop. Falcon keeps his chin down and his eyes averted from me, though I watch him out of the corner of mine. There is nothing threatening about his stance, but my tension rises as the seconds pass. What is he doing? Should I say something? Should I just stand here, silent?

“I can smell your fear.”

I blink as those words fall between us. I have to answer it as honestly as I can. He’ll smell the deceit. “I’m not afraid of you. I’m afraid of what everything means.”

“Let's test that theory.”

I only get a moment of warning and then I’m pressed against the corner of the lift. He lifts me, resting my ass on the rails. I grab at his shoulders, keeping myself steady as his mouth finds a spot on my throat that makes me melt. I gasp as he sucks hard and then runs his teeth over it.

“I could make you ours right now,” Falcon whispers.

I’ve never experienced such polar longings as I do at this moment. A huge part of me wants to tilt my head to the side and beg him to do as he wills. But another, even larger, part of me can’t believe them. Won’t believe them. Being trapped by a bond would be terrible if it turned out I was right.

He waits through my hesitation and then licks up over my jaw and seizes my lips in a kiss that leaves me feeling weak.

“Falcon,” I plead.

He growls and pulls at my thighs until I wrap them around him. “It’s good you asked Gray to kiss you. It means I can kiss you whenever I want.”

I’m confused until I vividly remember Falcon telling me to ask nicely and then me begging Gray in the gardens. Damn.

He slides his hand up the inside of my skirt. My skin shivers and heats in his wake. Until he reaches my underwear. He strokes lightly, pleasure coils, and then his fingers are inside the barrier. He curls them inside me, pumping, the feeling of being stretched makes me pant into his shoulder.

“So wet for me, Nyx. You want this? You want Dylan and Silas and Gray, but you want me, too, don’t you? What will you do for me?” He whispers against my lips.

“What do you want?” I gasp out as he changes the angle, shoving those fingers deeper.

“I want the answer to a question,” Falcon says after a moment.

My trepidation vanishes, and I smile against his lips.

“I would give you that for free,” I gasp out and tilt my hips so I can thrust against the movement he’s creating.

He seizes my mouth in a kiss that makes me forget where we are. I tear away from him, my body tightening, locking on his fingers as my release rips through me, fierce and unexpected. He thrusts a few more times before he rests his head on my shoulder.
