It was possible.

Perhaps she should call Lynda and ask her to check in on Margo. Except, she really didn't want to do that, especially if Lynda was asleep. The woman was cantankerous when she was in a good mood, and if Mia woke her up, she would definitely not be in a good mood.

But someone needed to check on Margo, and she was the only one there.

Pulling out her phone again, Mia searched her contacts for Lynda's number and placed the call.

The phone kept ringing for a long time, and Mia was about to hang up and call again when it was finally answered. Given how loud the music playing in the background was, Lynda wasn't asleep, and Mia was surprised that she'd even heard the ringing.

"Mia?" Lynda yelled in her ear. "Did something happen? Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?" She sounded a little slurred, but she was still coherent, so she wasn't overly drunk.

Perhaps Margo was with her, and that would explain why she hadn't answered her phone.

"Is Margo with you?"

"No, she decided to stay in the hotel and read. Did you try to call her?"

"I did, and she's not answering. It's not like her. Did any of your friends stay in the hotel who can check up on her?"

"No. We are all here, but as soon as we get back, I'll go to her room and see what's going on. She's probably sleeping with the earplugs in or forgot to charge her phone." Lynda snorted. "Maybe the couple next door is making noises. Get it? Get it? Loud, sexy noises that made Margo jealous because she hasn't gotten any in ages." She snorted again.

Yeah, Lynda was definitely drunk. She never would have talked like that sober. Did Rob know that his fiancée was getting plastered in Cabo?

Whatever. It wasn't Mia's problem.

"Call me as soon as you check on her, okay? Don't forget."

"I won't. I promised Rob that I would keep an eye on his sister. Not that the prude needs a keeper. What could happen to her while she's reading next to the pool in the hotel? I would say sunburn, but she puts on a shitload of sunscreen and keeps reapplying it, so she will be going home just as pale as she left. No one is going to believe that she was in Cabo."

Mia rolled her eyes. "When are you heading back to the hotel?"

"I don't know. Maybe in an hour. This place is open until morning. Isn't that great? This is the most fun I’ve had in ages."

"Call me no matter what time it is, and if I don't hear from you in the next couple of hours, I'm going to call you."

"Fine. Good night, Mia." Lynda ended the call.

Mia tried Margo's number again, but the call went straight to voicemail. When the same happened the third and fourth time she called, a surge of panic constricted Mia's throat.

Something was wrong.

Driving back into the dining room, she didn't go to her table but straight to Kian's.

When Toven saw the direction she was going, he rose to his feet and headed toward Kian's table as well.

He intercepted her just as she reached her destination. "What happened?"

"Margo is not answering her phone." Mia shifted her gaze to Kian. "I called her four times and each time, the call went to voicemail, and it worried me. Margo was awaiting this call, and even if she fell asleep, she is not a heavy sleeper, and she would have heard the ringing. I called Lynda, her brother's fiancée, but she's at a club with the rest of her girlfriends and won't be back at the hotel for at least another hour, maybe longer. I don't know what to do."

"That's no reason to panic," Kian said. "Maybe Margo has gone to the Airbnb, and there is bad reception there?"

"It's only a fifteen-minute walk from the hotel. There is no reason for it to have worse reception than the resort."

"Can you see if she checked into the Airbnb?" Syssi asked.

"I can call the owner tomorrow morning, but I have a bad feeling that it's going to be too late." Mia lifted a shaking hand to her chest. "Margo suspected that Jasmine's boyfriend was a trafficker, and he wanted to sell her. What if Margo got taken along with Jasmine?"

Toven put a hand on her shoulder. "Let's wait for Lynda to return and check on Margo before we jump to conclusions. She might find Margo asleep in her room, and all this speculation was for nothing."
