MARGO

A bolt of pain pierced through Margo's heart.

Negal and the nurse were an item?

So what if they are? I have no claim on the guy.

He hadn't even tried to flirt with her.

Negal had caught her when she'd fainted, held her in his arms, and then carried her across the yacht until they had reached the kitchen, but that didn't mean that he was interested in her, just that he was a nice guy who took his savior gig a bit too seriously.

So what if she found that adorable?

Oh, well. It was a damn shame that he was taken. She would have loved to get to know Negal a little better. Maybe there could have been something there.

With a sigh, she turned to her friends, who were both looking at her with amusement in their eyes.

"What are you two smiling about?"

Frankie lifted her eyes as if to look at Gertrude, who was standing behind her, and then batted her lashes twice. "We are so happy that you are finally here. I can't wait to show you our cabin. We have a whole suite to ourselves."

Clearly, Frankie had meant to signal that what she'd really wanted to say couldn't be said in front of the nurse, so it had to do with Negal. But whatever she was thinking, she could stop because Margo had no intention of fighting over him with another woman.

Shaking her head, Margo turned to Jasmine. "I'm sure it's not as fancy as the suite you had at the hotel, but since it comes with two awesome ladies instead of a jerk who lied to you, manipulated you, and delivered you to a cartel boss for a price, I'd say it's a huge improvement."

The tall woman with the broad shoulders who had been standing next to Mia cleared her throat. "I'm afraid that Jasmine will have to do with much less fancy accommodations." She cast Jaz an apologetic look. "I'm here to escort you to a cabin in the lower decks."

"Why?" Margo asked. "Can't Jasmine stay with Frankie and me?"

"I'm afraid not," the woman said. "Not my call, so don't blame me." She looked at Jasmine again. "The boss granted you permission to hitch a ride with us, but he wants you to stay on one of the lower decks for the duration of the trip."

Jasmine's eyes flared with panic. "Am I to be confined to quarters?"

"Not exactly." The woman rubbed a hand over the back of her neck. "We have other passengers staying in the staff quarters. You are free to use the staff dining hall and other amenities. You just can't go to the upper decks. It's a matter of security."

Looking deflated, Jasmine nodded. "I understand." She turned to Margo. "I was hoping we could have a fun time together, but I'm not complaining. Your friends saved me from a terrible fate, and if I have to stay in the staff quarters until we get back to Los Angeles, it's not a big deal."

Margo didn't know what to say or why the boss didn't want Jasmine around while he was okay with her being there. She wasn't an employee yet, and she hadn't signed any paperwork, so she was just as much of a security risk as Jasmine.

Did her friendship with Mia give her a special status?

That was most likely the reason.

After all, Mia's fiancé was part owner of the company.

"It probably has to do with Perfect Match," Margo said. "If they are discussing future plans that are supposed to stay a secret, I can understand why they don't want anyone who is not an employee to be there." She smiled apologetically at Jasmine. "I bet that I'll have to sign a nondisclosure agreement and accept an employment contract before I'm allowed to hang out with the other employees, and if I don't, I'll have to stay in the lower decks with you."

The tall woman nodded. "We are big on nondisclosures here."

"We will come with you to check out your cabin," Frankie told Jasmine. "The clinic is on the lower decks." She turned to look at the nurse. "I would hate to drag you along. Margo can push my chair, and if I faint, Mia can show her the way to the clinic."

The nurse hesitated for a moment. "Call me if you need me. You have my number."

"Will do." Frankie smiled at her.

"I can push the chair," the tall woman offered.
