"A little," he admitted. "But at least now I know how you like your eggs."

Negal was trying to keep it light today and avoid the mistake of dumping too much information on her like he had done last night, but the truth was that if she wanted him to induce her transition, they didn't have time to dance around the topic.

Then again, he didn't have to be the one she chose for that. Margo could take her time and choose any of the single immortals on the ship.

Except, he didn't like that idea. Not at all. In fact, thinking about her with any other male was making him so angry that his fangs were starting to elongate.

Great. Now, he was going to scare her.

Pushing to his feet, Negal walked to the refrigerator and pretended to look for something inside just to buy himself time to get his damn fangs under control.

"Would you like some orange juice?" he asked without looking at her.

"No, thank you."

He pulled out the container and poured himself a glass, even though he didn't want juice either.

"I'm very curious about all those planets you visited," Margo said. "Can you tell me about them?"

"Right now?"

She chuckled. "Whenever you are in the mood for storytelling. I'm sure you have plenty of fascinating tales to tell."

"You seem to be particularly interested in dragons. Is there a reason for that?"

Margo blushed. "There is, but it's a little embarrassing to talk about."

"Now, you've really made me curious. What could possibly be embarrassing about flying lizards?"

She took another sip of coffee and put the mug down. "The dragons you encountered were obviously just dumb, destructive creatures. The dragons I'm fascinated with are mythical shapeshifters who can shift between their dragon and human forms."

"Oh, I see. You are referring to magical beings in children's stories."

She laughed. "The stories I'm talking about are more suitable for adults."

"Adult fairytales?"

"Yes. Precisely." She lifted her coffee mug and took another sip.

Myths could be called adult fairytales, and his team had researched those quite thoroughly while searching for clues about what had happened to the exiled gods. There were myths about dragons in many cultures, but none about dragons who could shapeshift into humans. Myths usually had a kernel of truth at their core, and dragon-like creatures could have existed on Earth at some point, but shapeshifting was just not possible. The closest any creature came to this was changing skin and eye colors, puffing up and shrinking down. But no creature could turn into another creature just by willing it.

"I would love to read those myths. Can you tell me where I can find them?"

Margo almost choked on her coffee, and as she coughed, a few drops landed on her hand. "I don't think you will enjoy reading them." She wiped them off.

"Why not?"

"Because they are usually more enjoyable to ladies."

Now he was really confused. "I didn't know that myths were based on gender preferences."

Margo closed her eyes and let out an exasperated breath. "Do you know what romance novels are?"

"Of course. They are stories about romantic love."

"Yes, well, there are many different kinds of romance novels, and some of them feature protagonists who are shapeshifters. There are wolves, bears, panthers, lions, eagles, and even dragons."

"Oh, now I get it. And you like dragons in particular?"
