Not that she hadn't been confident before.

Margo was assertive, intelligent, and beautiful, and she knew how to carry herself. Her only insecurity seemed to be about intimacy, and it made him wonder whether she'd had a bad experience that had made her more cautious and reserved than most of the human females he'd met and engaged with.

He was about to ask her that when the door opened, and the saleslady came in with an armful of dresses and other clothing items.

"You said that the airline lost your luggage, so I took the liberty of assembling some wardrobe essentials." She started hanging all the items on hooks that were placed behind the screen. "I also brought some intimates." She pulled several skimpy, lacy things from the bag she'd slung across her body. "How many nights are you staying in Puerto Vallarta?"

"My wife needs items for five more days," Negal said.

"Perfect." The saleslady spread out the lacy panties over the table on the other side of the elevated stage. "There are seven sets in here. Do you also need a bathing suit?"

"Yes," Negal said.

Margo glared at him, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she turned to the saleslady. "Thank you. I will try on the dresses and the other items and pick out the ones I like."

"I will also bring shoes. What size heel do you find comfortable?"

Margo hesitated for a moment. "No higher than four inches. Three and a half would be best."

"Perfect." The woman grinned, more at Negal than at Margo, probably understanding which one of them was willing to spend the money and which one was putting on the brakes. "You are such a beautiful couple. Are you newlyweds?"

"Yes, we are." Negal wrapped his arm around Margo's shoulders. "Margo is the love of my life."

"Oh, how lovely." The saleslady put a hand over her chest. "Congratulations. May you enjoy many happy years together."

"Thank you," Negal said. "We will."

After the woman left, Margo looked at him from under lowered lashes. "Do you always lie with such ease?"

"I didn't lie." He tried to stifle his smile but failed.

"Oh, yeah? I'm not your wife or the love of your life."

"But you will be. I was merely seeing the future."

When she opened her mouth to protest, he put a finger over her lips. "Would you call a seer a liar just because the events in her vision are not happening right now?" He rubbed his thumb over her lips.

Margo wanted to ask him whether there was really any such thing as a seer, but his thumb gently stroking over her lips was distracting her. Her eyes became hooded, and when the scent of her arousal hit his nostrils, Negal's erection punched out against the zipper of his jeans.

"Margo," he whispered as he dipped his head so their lips were mere inches apart.

His thumb was still brushing gently over her lips, so she couldn't say anything, but the way she tilted her head up and closed her eyes spoke volumes.

Still, he didn't want to take anything for granted. Besides, he'd told her that she would have to ask him to kiss her. "If you don't want me to kiss you," he murmured. "Tell me now."

Those were not the exact words he'd used before, but it was close enough. Verbal consent was as good as her asking.

Margo opened her eyes and looked at him with so much smoldering heat that he could have caught on fire just from looking into their depths, and then she did something he would have never expected from her.

Reaching with her hand, she pushed his finger aside, lifted on her toes, and closed the distance between their lips.

MARGO

It had been an impulse to close the distance between their mouths and kiss Negal, and as their lips touched, a rush of heat swept through Margo. She moaned as he slipped his tongue past her lips, her arms going around his neck and holding on tight.

When she wrapped her tongue around his, teasing and licking, he groaned, but he still held back, allowing her to explore. She knew he wouldn't last long, though, and as he deepened the kiss, his tongue taking the lead, she melted into him.
