Page 19 of Stolen Love

Would he come to me about it, though? Ask for my thoughts on whether we should try to convince the man to see a doctor if he hasn’t already? Of course not. My opinion means shit.

This can’t go on forever. I can create all the diversions, but that won’t change anything. I can’t help feeling like I’m running away from my troubles as I look forward to a night with the woman I love, but then life can’t be put on permanent hold, either. As she made very clear a few nights ago in my office, she already feels like she’s sacrificed enough. I can’t ask her to put her needs aside indefinitely.

My heart stutters at the click of the doorknob, signaling she’s coming out. I turn, eager to see the results of Emilia’s hours of preparation.

How can I have indulged in every inch of this woman’s body, yet she still has the power to take my breath away? I am completely helpless at the sight of her. Loose waves of hair frame her face and cascade over her shoulders. Her eyes burn with a love so fierce it mirrors my own and draws the breath from my lungs.

The silver dress gleams and sparkles with every move she makes, the fabric sliding over her curves like water. This must be another dress she picked up during her trip with Guilia, and the effect is enough that I’d happily encourage her to make their shopping trips a regular thing because, holy shit, all I want is to pin her to the bed and fuck her until I can’t see straight.

Her brow lifts at the shuddering breath I release. Instantly, she looks down at herself. “Is it not right? You didn’t give me a dress code. I can change.”

“I say this with love,” I rasp, shaking my head. “I would break your arms before I let you change out of that dress.”

Her cheeks go red. “I guess you approve.”

“If I weren’t half starved, I would show you here and now how much I approve. You are so beautiful, so damn sexy, it’s unfair. How am I supposed to do anything but stare at you?” I hold out my hands, and she comes to me, still blushing, but she can’t hide a satisfied grin.

The silver stilettos encasing her feet mean I don’t have to lean down quite as far to kiss her, sweeping my tongue along the seam of her lips, stroking hers with it. She purrs, and the sound goes straight to my cock.

I suspect I have a very uncomfortable night ahead. But it’s the sweetest torture, the sort I would happily suffer endlessly.

“So?” she asks, brightening up now that I’ve left no question about how incredible she looks. “Do I get to know where we’re going?”

I pretend to think it over, shaking my head. “Don’t worry. You’ll know soon enough. Have a little patience.” It’s too much fun messing with her. It always has been. Watching her frustrated little frown furrow her brow stretches my smile into my cheeks.

“So long as I’m not overdressed.” She accepts my help getting into her coat, and I take a moment to lean in and inhale her perfume. I’ll never be able to smell its fresh, sweet scent after tonight without thinking of this moment. How exquisite she looks. How deeply in love with her I am. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t. She’s that much a part of me.

Her soft gasp upon stepping out of the house and finding the waiting limousine lights me up inside. It makes everything worth it. “Wow! A limo too? I feel like a princess in a fairy tale.”

“I told you, I want this to be a special night for us.” Yet, as I take her hand to lead her to where Vinny has now opened the door, I notice her hesitation, the way she stumbles a little, taking a step.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, turning to her, forgetting the limo for a minute to address whatever has creased her brow.

“I’m being silly.” When I continue to stare at her, waiting, she sighs. “Is it safe? I’m sorry. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, and I’m not trying to ruin anything, but after what happened…”

“You’re afraid to be out in public with me,” I conclude with a sinking heart, which I try like hell to conceal.

Her eyes pop open wide. “No! Shit, that’s not what I meant. I’m worried about you, Luca. I don’t want you to take any unnecessary risks for my sake. I’m the one who made a big deal about never going out anywhere, and now?” There’s pain in her voice, and it’s written across her perfect face.

“Enough.” Taking both of her hands in mine, I murmur, “If I thought there was any risk, we wouldn’t go anywhere. I would never willingly put you in harm’s way. I’ve also taken precautions tonight. Believe me, we have nothing to worry about.”

She seems happier and more confident as we continue walking to the car, and by the time she slides inside, she’s smiling again.

I can’t keep my hands off her during the ride, touching her legs, teasing us both.

“You look good enough that I’m ready to go straight to dessert so we can get out of there quicker,” I growl out while indulging in her silky skin.

She leans toward me, giving me a nice view of her luscious tits. If she leans any farther, they’ll come spilling out, and fuck, do I wish they would. The privacy divider is up, meaning no one would see but me. “We can always get our food to go,” she offers seductively.

“Damn, woman. You have no idea how good that sounds right now.” Or maybe she does, closing her eyes and sighing when I run the back of my fingers over the swells of her tits. She’s not wearing a bra, meaning her nipples stand out against the flowing fabric, drawing my hungry gaze.

Then I remember the trouble I went through putting the night together, and it’s just enough to temper the erection raging in my pants. “Later,” I promise in a whisper, groaning when she bites her lip.

When she realizes we’re driving into Brooklyn, she smiles at me. “Where are you taking me?”

“For an excellent meal.” Much of the weight that’s sat so heavy on my chest lately lightens thanks to the delight in her smile. I can let myself release some of my worries for her sake. She deserves that much for a few hours.

I watch as she chews her lip, craning her neck to see out the windows before we finally pull to a stop in front of a charming little restaurant in Williamsburg. Her jaw damn near hits her lap. “No way. You need to make reservations like a month in advance to get in here,” she gasps, her eyes widening in surprise.
