“Go,” Papa mutters, waving a hand and cutting off Dante’s reply. “Before I change my mind and have you stay. Maybe you’ll come back with a better attitude.”

It isn’t my attitude that needs fixing, but I’m not about to waste more time. Every minute spent bickering with my brother is one less I get to spend with Emilia. She’s waiting for me, and anticipation makes my heart pound a little faster as I leave the house to find the car already here.

Bruno and Pete are coming with us, staying in the guest house out by the pool. I’m not about to take any chances, no matter how quiet I expect the trip to be. At least, quiet in terms of interruptions from anyone who wants to see me dead. I intend to christen every room and test the acoustics when Emilia screams my name.

She comes bouncing out of my house, practically skipping toward the waiting car when she finds me beside it, giving the guys last-minute instructions. “Ready to go?” I ask, holding my arms out so she can throw herself into them. All of the bullshit with Dante falls away in a moment like this.

This is what is real.

This is what matters.

“So ready.” Her radiant smile turns wicked as she molds her body against mine. “There’s only one tiny problem.”

“What is it?”

“I don’t have a bathing suit. I guess I won’t be able to wear one while we’re in the pool.” Her teeth scrape her lip as she raises an eyebrow. “I don’t know what we’re going to do.”

Note to self, get in the pool right away. “I’m sure we’ll be able to come up with a way around that,” I promise, my dick thickening in anticipation. “We need to get moving. I don’t think I can wait much longer.”

Good thing it’s less than an hour’s drive up there.

“This is your vacation home?” I have the pleasure of watching Emilia gape in amazement as we enter the house, which even I can agree is breathtaking. I’ve grown used to it over the years, but she helps me see things through new eyes. I can better appreciate the sprawling mansion situated only yards from the beach, the windows that allow so much brilliant sunlight to stream into the open, airy space.

My mother was true to her word, ensuring the place was open and aired out and the kitchen stocked. The pool is ready for us, too, beneath the enclosure Papa built for Guilia a decade ago so she could swim year-round. What a shame we’ve been too busy to come up here much recently.

“You like it?” I ask, though the answer is obvious.

She might as well roll her eyes at my question. “It’s incredible. I’ve seen pictures of houses like this.” She’s almost tiptoeing through the space, running her fingertips over the striped sofa positioned before the wide, deep fireplace. Going to the windows, she shakes her head and even laughs softly. “Right on the beach. Like it’s straight out of a magazine.” Then she turns to me, eyes shining. “Thank you so much for bringing me here. Thank you for thinking about this.”

“It was nothing,” I offer with a shrug, taking off my coat and hanging it with hers near the front door while she admires our surroundings. “The house just happens to be here.”

“You thought of bringing me here.” She joins me at the foot of the stairs and winds her arms around my waist. Radiant, loving, and tempting. Even now, in a sweet moment like this, I can’t wait to tear off her clothes.

If only we could shut out the world all the time, to live in a bubble where there’s nothing but the two of us, and I could have her all to myself.

“I think of a lot of things,” I murmur, letting one of my hands slide down her back until I’m cupping her ass. She glances toward the guys, currently coming in with our bags, but I don’t care if they see us. I hope they do. Just in case they ever get the stupid idea to touch what isn’t theirs. What is mine.

“Take them up to the front bedroom,” I call out, leading her farther into the house. Bruno is carrying my bag, and I make a point of catching his eye, adding, “Leave mine in the closet.” There’s something special inside that I’d rather Emilia not accidentally discover. Something I plan to give her this week. My chest tightens every time I think about it.

“You’re going to have to take me on a tour,” Emilia reminds me, taking me by the hand and bringing my thoughts back to the present. “I want to see everything.”

“Same here, which is why I was thinking about having a swim,” I murmur with a wink. Emilia’s cheeks go pink, but she rolls her eyes, making me relent. “Okay, fine,” I grumble.

She whistles at the sight of the expansive, well-stocked library. “I could spend a month in here,” she decides with a happy little sigh before we continue to the kitchen. “It’s more like a cathedral!” Craning her neck, she gazes at the ceiling far above our heads.

“The guy who built it was going for shock and awe.” That’s not what I’m interested in. I would much rather pull her through the French doors leading to the pool. It’s clear, sparkling water looks inviting enough that I’d want to swim even without the prospect of a slippery, naked woman joining me.

Finally, she finishes checking out the shining appliances, practically moaning over the array of treats in the refrigerator. Mama made a point of spoiling us, to put it mildly. I make a mental note to thank her for it while pulling Emilia outside.

“Wow. The parties we could have out here.” She shakes her head, grinning from ear to ear at the attached glass-walled enclosure that lets in the late morning sunshine and gives us the illusion of being outside, though we’re fully protected from the bracing wind coming off the ocean.

“You’re reading my mind,” I tell her while opening the control pad on the wall beside the door and touching the button, lowering the shades over the windows to give us privacy.

She turns to me, folding her arms and smirking. “I told you…” she reminds me in a teasing sort of voice, “… I didn’t bring a suit.”

“And wouldn’t you know it, neither did I.” The hem of my turtleneck is already in my hands, and I pull it over my head, tossing it onto one of the lounge chairs positioned around the pool’s edge. “That’s not stopping me, is it?”
