Vada got up, walked across the room, and looked back before disappearing out the door.

Hades got dressed and grabbed Dobbs’ keys. He walked down the hall, stopping in the doorway. He pulled out a cigarette and leaned against the wall. The crowd had definitely thinned out in the last hour, but the clubs, both of them, were still here.

This wasn’t the first time the Riders and East got together, but never with every brother in attendance. It was a good scene, seeing everyone at ease and hanging out. They had come a long way. All of them.

He scanned the room, looking for Vada. She was seated at the bar with Phoebe, and from the looks of it, they’d both thoroughly enjoyed Grain’s drink. Vada had a little left, which meant it was time to leave before she could have another. He walked across the room and was about two feet away when Phoebe turned to Vada.

“Saw you talking to your mom. Looked like it went well.”

“It did.”

Phoebe smiled. “Good.”

Vada sipped the last of her drink. “She suggested coming back to Ghosttown and visiting.”

Oh fuck. He should’ve known this was going to happen. While he was happy for Vada, her mom wasn’t exactly who he’d choose to spend time with. She’d made an effort, but Hades wouldn’t forget the past as quickly as Vada.

Phoebe widened her eyes. “How you think Hades will handle that?”

You know how I’m gonna fucking handle it.

“Nothing a blowjob won’t fix.”

Phoebe stilled, then burst out laughing. They lifted their bottles and clinked them together.

“Spoken like a true married old lady.”

Even Hades, in his annoyed state, couldn’t resist giving in to a smile.

It would take more than one blowjob to convince him to spend time with her mother, but if she was willing to use that tactic, she wouldn’t get any complaints from him. It was time to make himself known before he heard anything else. If she even mentioned her father or siblings, Hades would lose his shit.

He closed the gap between him and the women.

“Ready to go?”

Vada spun in her stool. “Yes. I just need to go change.”

Hades furrowed his brows, eyeing her dress.

“Well, I can’t wear my dress on the bike.”

What? Hades had arrived on his bike but made arrangements to have a prospect bring over his truck.

“You wanna take the bike home?”

“I’m an old lady now, Hades.” She grabbed his shoulders, lifted up on her toes for a quick kiss, and darted across the room.

He felt a hard slap on his back and turned to find Saint offering him a beer.

“You heading out?” Hades asked.

“Figured we’d wait until you and Vada left.”

Hades took the beer, and they walked to the end of the bar. It was the perfect view of the whole room. A few people had left, and the party was dying down a bit. Joe had left the DJ station with a track playing. Some of the women were slowly cleaning up. He watched Camille, Karia, and Everleigh clear off the tables while Sloane, Ivy, and Bailey wrapped up the food. There was still enough to feed an army.

Hades took a swig of his beer and turned to Saint. “Thanks for standing up with me, brother.”

Saint nodded, glancing around the room. “Got to be honest, never thought I’d see the day. You’ve been declaring bachelorhood since we were teenagers. Said you’d never settle down.”
