“Got some audio on Macy and her douchebag bitch. It’s some funny shit. Let’s just say our Macy is quite the actress. How the asshole didn’t know she was faking it is beyond me. I’ll play it back for ya.”

“No,” Rourke snapped.

Trax stared back at him. He tensed and cocked his brow in a sinister glare aimed at Gage.

Gage laughed, swiveling in his seat to face Rourke. “You sweet on her, man? ’Cause you heard the same as we all did. Short stack doesn’t think much of us dirty bikers.”

Trax watched Rourke closely. This wouldn’t be the first time Macy became a subject with Rourke taking up for her. He remembered exactly how pissed he’d been at Trax with the incident from the girls’ apartment.

“Fuck off, Gage,” Rourke said, though he never denied his interest. He hoped to hell Rourke stayed away from her. Nothing good could come from any involvement with Macy.

When she caught wind of the audio tap in the apartment, she would go ballistic. It would be more ammo to use with Cheyenne against him. But his only other option was to not say anything. It was plausible. The odds of her finding out were slim. But there was always a chance. Fuck me.

“I see where your mind is at, and I’m telling ya, brother, you don’t wanna do it,” Gage said.

Trax balled his hands and then spread out his fingers. He was so wired right now, he needed to relax, or even just calm the fuck down. “You got no idea what I’m thinking, so stay the fuck outta my head, Gage.”

Gage snorted and then laughed, eyeing Rourke who stood off to the side, leaning up against the wall with his arms crossed.

“Gonna tell her?” Rourke asked, cocking a brow.

Trax stared back.

Gage shook his head. “Mistake, man. When it blows up in your face, don’t say I didn’t warn your ass.”

Trax glared over behind him at Gage and caught Kase walking through the door, followed by a few members.

“Taking a run up to Ghosttown on Monday. Who’s coming?”

“So, we’re really doing this? Moving on up there? Population what, ten?”

Kase drew in a breath, releasing it with tension obvious in his shoulders. He scowled at Gage. “Just need to get the approval for the permits, and we can start construction on the rebuild to meet our needs.” Kase cocked his brow. “Yeah, Gage, we’ll have a fucking stripper pole installed. I also got the contractor coming up for the store. And the site for the junkyard is just about cleared.”

It was all falling into place.

Another member, Danny, piped in. “Already got the permits approved for Lana’s coffee shop.” It seemed quite a few members and their spouses were taking advantage of branching out and making use of the commercial property on Main Street.

Kase nodded. “That’s good.” He eyed the group with a rare smile. “It’s happening, brothers.”

It had been a while since he had been up there. This was the perfect distraction Trax needed. He’d get away for a day or two.

“I’ll go up with ya,” Trax answered.

Kase nodded and turned to Rourke and Dobbs.

“We got the pickup, so we’re out.” They were headed out for another purchase of parts from a distributor that had folded. The business was continuing to go strong.

Kase waited on Gage.

“Yeah, I’ll go for the ride, but why exactly are we going?”

“Wanna rush on the permits so we can get in soon. Their monthly town meeting is Monday. Figured we’d show and get in with the mayor who oversees the permits.”

“The mayor? Town has twenty-two people, and they have a fucking mayor?”

Trax snorted, shaking his head. This brainchild was all Kase, and while he understood why Ghosttown was a good fit for them, he, like the others, wasn’t sold on the solidarity of the small town. He’d been there a few times and enjoyed the roads, perfect for a ride, but to live out there? No, he wasn’t fully on board.

He planned on keeping his house and making the drive for events and meetings. He’d spend time in the small town before he’d commit to it. Cheyenne popped into his head. She was another reason he stalled his final decision. Leaving her behind wasn’t an option. She’d have to be on board with moving too. Crazybastard. He knew the girl for a few weeks and was already basing his life decisions around her.
