I should be happy that she took my request to move in seriously, and I am. This is more than I thought she would pack and it has to be most of her wardrobe at home.

“Is this all of it?” I ask.

“You’re the one that wanted me to move in. Can you not handle me, Haynes?” she asks.

“No, I can handle you just fine.”

She does not know just how well I’d handle her.

Juliet starts to grip her hand around the handle of a large black rolling luggage.

“Don’t worry about it. I got it. I’ll get everything out and then you can roll up a couple.”

“Thanks,” she says, and then takes a few steps back to give me room to pull everything out.

I pull down the first two large pieces of luggage and then a smaller one for her.

“Here, can you pull this one?” I ask, handing it to her.

“You know I loaded all of this myself.”

“I do but now you’re with me. The rules just changed.”

I turn and pull two more bags that I crisscross over my chest. I can feel her staring at me after my comment. I don’t know if she finds my chivalry endearing or annoying but she’ll have to get used to it because that’s what she’s getting for the next two years.

I start pulling the two large pieces of luggage behind me toward the elevator.

She clicks the close button on her key fob and follows behind.

“It’s going to take a couple of trips to get it all but you should have enough here to start unpacking,” I tell her, looking down at the biggest pieces of luggage I’ve ever seen, packed to the brim.

I smile to myself.

The more stuff she moves in, the clearer the sign that she’s going to make this work.

The elevator door opens and we ride up to my penthouse on the eighth floor. When it opens, we both exit with our luggage in tow.

“There are three penthouses up here?” she asks.

“Yeah, one belongs to Lake Powers and his girlfriend Tessa, who you met in the Owner’s Box, and the other one is Coach Bex's. The last one is mine.”

“Do they live here all year round?” she asks.

“Nope. Bex goes home to the UK. I go home to Vancouver, and Lake goes home to Colorado.”

“Wait, none of you stay in these penthouses during the offseason? They’re just vacant that whole time?”

“The offseason isn’t that long when you count when we have to be back for training. It’s only a few months’ break and then we’re all back. I won't be able to leave during the next two years for extended stays though until my green card is approved. I’ll have to take shorter visits home instead.”

“So you’ll be around during the offseason?”

“Yeah. Is that a problem?” I ask.

We glide the luggage in through the front and I look behind me to find Juliet cataloging the layout of everything she sees.

“The kitchen’s to your right. Feel free to load whatever you want in the fridge. It’s too big for me to fill on my own.”

She looks to find the large kitchen built for a restaurant.
