“I’m glad to hear it, Mr. Shawland.” She tilts her head up to look at me and her lips are calling to be kissed. To be caressed. To be worshipped.

Her hand rests on my cheek. I lean into her and place my lips over hers. I wait for her to take the lead, and she does. Our bodies feel like they’re molding together. When we’re in this embrace it feels like it’s us against the world. Nothing and no one can knock us off this pedestal.

Aria pulls back from me slightly. I can feel her warm breath breeze across my lips.

“I want you in my life, Caleb, but I have nothing to offer you. My life is different. I’m different.”

I cup my hands around her face and make her look me square in the eye. “I want you in my life, Miss Marshall. I need you in my life. You and this little one,” I let one of my hands rub against her swollen tummy. “Together, we can get through anything. Together, we can have a happy life. And, as for you having nothing to offer me. Just having you in my life is enough. You’ve given me an instant family.”

Tears roll down her cheeks. “And it doesn’t bother you to raise another man’s baby?”

I shake my head. “No. I’ll be the only father this little lady or little guy will ever need. It doesn’t bother me, so don’t let it bother you.”

“I feel like this is all one big dream. I love you, Caleb. I always have, and I always will. It might take me a while to be the person you once knew, but I will find her one day.”

“And until that day arrives, I’ll just have to love and care for the woman you are now, because to me, you’re one and the same.”

And I haven’t spoken a truer word in my life. Aria might have some issues now, but she’s the same person to me. She will always be my Aria. My princess. My life. Nothing will ever change that.
