She rolled her eyes. “Bro, I’m not going to pounce on you or anything. I respect your faithfulness to your woman.”

Scanning the room, I checked for any sign of other eyes.

“There’re no cameras,” she sighed, “no recording, no people watching behind my mirrors. Nothing. We’re completely and utterly in privacy.” She nodded to the nightstand. “I mean, there are several panic buttons in the room for my safety, but you’re safe, Mr. Monogamous.”

“You’re disrespectful. I can tell in the way you speak to me.” I removed my hands from my pockets, striding to the bed and sitting next to her.

She twisted sideways, bending one of her legs up onto the mattress. “Then give me a reason to respect you.”

This girl better be worth my gut feeling. “So,” I sighed. “As I said, I know your father. My friend Ian and I run Club Euphoria, in downtown Boston. It’s a strip club, but we’re expanding to something like this place.”

“Why like this place?” She examined the room almost as if she were unhappy. I narrowed my gaze suspiciously, but the moment she brought her eyes back to mine, she shifted her weight. “I like it here, but I feel like I have no say over what goes on. She says I’m in charge, but it’s bullshit. Kat’s cool and shit, but she micromanages, and she gives the guards full reign over us. If they want to fuck us, we can’t say no. It’s her thank you to them for keeping the Feds off her ass.”

“So, your?—”

“Raped?” She shrugged. “Not entirely because when we sign the contract to work here, we agree to every term, and it’s listed on there in bold and red, so we don’t miss it.” She averted her gaze to the floor. “But when I’m not in the mood, I’m not really given a choice. If that’s what you call rape, then fine, but I knew what I was getting into.”

“So, yes then.”

She stood, pacing the room. “I can’t talk to you about this.”

I followed her every moment, watching her internal battle as she convinced herself she was happy. “Why not?”

She paused, resting her hands on her hips. “I work here because I love sex, the end.”

“There’s nothing wrong with that.”

“And,” she threw her arm out to the side. “if I go with you, I’ll just be in the same boat. Forced to fuck when?—”

I leaped off the bed, crossing my arms. “Never.” I took a step toward her, but she took a step back, mimicking my posture. I lifted a hand. “Giovanna, I’m asking you to come back with us and work on your own terms. You were fucking mesmerizing on that pole and if you only want to dance, then just dance. Ian and I will never force you to fuck anyone. That’s bullshit. We’ll never put forced sex into any contract. We don’t play that game, but if you want to fuck, then do it. I didn’t even know you worked as anything other than a dancer when I saw you.”

“Why me?”

I chuckled.

“What?” She pursed her lips.

“Ian found Jade, my girlfriend, the same way… kinda. And he told me she asked him ‘why me’ as well.”

“And who is she? What does she do at the club?”

“She’s his personal assistant and runs operations with me. I think you’d like her because?—”

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

GIOVANNA! a deep voice yelled through the door.

“Just a second!” she called out. “With a client!”

You’re wanted upstairs immediately, and your guest’s friends are leaving now!

“Shit,” she hissed. “You need to go.” She sped over, running her fingers through my hair and messing it up a bit, then grabbed my shoulders, pressing her lips to my cheek, and smudged her thumb over it. My eyes widened as she did the same to my neck, then took a step back, untucking my shirt and unbuttoning three of my buttons. “There, you look freshly fucked now, sorry,” she murmured.

I reached into my pocket, took out my wallet, and pulled out a business card. “Call me if you change your mind.”
