“You act like the woman’s got ownership over you,” I continued lecturing Declan. “Grow a pair.”
“Whoa,” he chortled, “first, no, she doesn’t. And second,” he held up both his middle fingers, “fuck you, bro. She’s a good piece of ass.”
I reared back in my chair, half annoyed, half amused, as he placed his mimosa glass to his mouth, chugging the rest down. I narrowed my gaze on his. “I’d rather you and Kirsten just be official.”
He rolled his eyes. “Ian made it clear about that, and a relationship is the last thing I need.”
“I know, I know but you lik—” my sentence trailed off as I saw two people approaching. “Good morning, Giovanna.”
Chance emerged from the house with her at his side. She was dressed in a black fringed crop top, dark blue jeans, and black heels. Her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail, with enormous black sunglasses perched on the bridge of her nose. She popped her hip, folding her arms over her chest, a black Louis Vuitton bag hanging from her arm. “Morning,” she greeted, all pleasantries absent in her tone.
Chance stepped over to the table, pulling out the chair next to Declan. Without a word, the confident woman last night turned sheepish. Slinking over, she sat, Chance helping situate her under the table.
I picked up the glass decanter filled with champagne and orange juice. “Mimosa?”
She nodded once, shifting uncomfortably. “Sure.” She glanced up at Chance, who hurried inside to grab her a glass. After hanging her bag on the chair, she tucked her arms under the table in her lap.
“Cold?” I asked. “I can get you a jacket.”
“No, no,” she waved a hand.
Confused as to why she showed up unannounced, I slipped my phone from my pocket. “I must’ve missed your call, sorry.”
“I didn’t call.” She sighed. “I figured you’d be here since,” she nodded at Chance, who appeared at the table and sat, pouring her a Mimosa, “he’s in town.” He handed her the full champagne flute, and she nodded with a half-smile. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.” He sat back, propping his ankle on his knee.
“You decided you wanted to talk?” I asked.
She nodded. “I’ll do it.”
“We haven’t even discussed the details, yet and–” I chuckled, but she lowered her sunglasses and my words died in my throat as I saw her swollen, bruised eye. My body was filled with anger, and I clenched the armrests tightly.
“Like I said, I’ll do it,” she exchanged a glance with the three of us before sliding her glasses back on.
“Fucking hell,” I breathed, closing my eyes for a moment before they snapped open. “Did that happen after I left you last night?”
Nodding, she took a sizable gulp of her drink, then set it down. “Yeah, remember when I got called back upstairs?”
Fist covering my mouth, I nodded.
“When I got up there, she asked if I fucked you and I told her yes.”
Chance and Declan both practically broke their necks, shooting me a confused look.
“We didn’t fuck,” she and I replied at the same time before she continued. “Well, she had guards go through my garbage looking for a condom and when she found out we didn’t use protection, she punched me… just once for not being safe. But then she found out we didn’t fuck at all and berated me for about two hours while her guards held me to the chair. She slapped me a few times, then told one of them to have his way with me downstairs in my room.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” I barked and Chance opened his mouth to speak, but she cut him off.
“He’s one I’ve gotten close to, so he took pity on me and didn’t do it. We just talked, and he told me I needed to quit.” She pointed at her eye. “So, I’m not sure how much of a help I’ll be to you before I can cover it with makeup, but I’ll do whatever.”
Chance, gawking at her, jerked his head back. “Did you call Luca or your dad?”
She snorted. “Fuckkkk no! My dad didn’t even know I worked at that particular club, and Luca would go apeshit and get himself killed.”
I removed my sunglasses. “I’m going to have her killed.”
“PLEASE!” she shouted before lowering her voice, “don’t. I just want to leave. If you go after her, it’ll cause a big problem.”
