She darted her eyes at each of them before bringing her gaze back to mine. “I have several I dance to, but I think Poison Ivy by Hemi Moore works best for now.”

I nodded, typing the song into the search bar.

“But I have a request.”

I lifted my eyes. “Yes?”

She turned her attention to the ceiling. “I know this is just an audition, but I want to show you my best. Can I please have the lights too?” She altered her weight back and forth. “It’s kinda this whole mood thing for me.”

Ian reached out, tugging me closer. “What the fuck is she doing?”

I shrugged, whispering, “I have no idea.”

He reared back behind me, glaring at Luke, who shrugged as well, then looked back to Giovanna. “Colors?”

“Green, blue, and yellow with purple lasers?”

“Jesus, who does this girl think she is?” Ian growled.

“Chance!” Luke called out over his shoulder.

“Yeah?” He stepped out from behind the bar.

“Give her whatever she wants.”

Ian’s jaw tightened as he chewed on the inside of his cheek. Moments after, the lights in the room dimmed, and the stage came to life with the effects she had requested.

“Miss Aggio,” Ian retorted.

She arched her brows at him, clasping her hands together in front of her.

“Is that all, or do you want proper attire as well?”

“Maybe a fucking private helicopter too,” Amber grumbled under her breath. “New girls can’t just come in here and demand thi?—”

“Amber,” Luke growled. “Shut up.”

Giovanna shook her head with a smirk. “Mr. Knight, the clothes all come off eventually anyway, don’t they?”

Chance snorted, setting an empty ashtray next to Ian’s leg on the table. Ian slumped into a chair and dragged the ashtray closer. Amber let out a small gasp as I held my breath, praying that Ian wouldn’t lose control and strangle the daughter of another powerful man.

“Girls!” Ian spat at Amber and me. “Sit!”

Chance pulled back a chair next to him for Amber while I sat next to Ian and Luke between the tables. The six of us were in a straight row, providing her our full focus.

Ian took a pack of cigarettes out of his inside jacket pocket, lighting one. “Play,” he ordered.

As I pressed Play, he took a deep drag of his cigarette, his eyes fixed on her every move. For Luke’s sake, I prayed she’d do well, or else Ian would never let him live it down. But from what I’d seen so far, I genuinely liked her.

Ever since she arrived, she’d been nothing but pleasant. And I trusted my boyfriend’s judgement. He wouldn’t have brought her back with him if he didn’t think she was worth it. He may not have been known for his generosity with new people, but he had a great eye for talent.

The music began, and she swayed her hips, her movements fluid and seductive. Her fingers ran up her body, through her hair, adding an extra level of sensuality to her performance. With a graceful hook of her leg around the pole, she spun around once before flipping her hair and tucking her hands under the hem of a neon yellow halter top. The vibrant color popped against her skin and drew attention to every aspect of her body.

Shimmying to the rhythm, she teased removing the top, sending waves of anticipation through us. But instead, she took hold of the pole with one hand, effortlessly twirling around it. Hooking both legs, she spun several times before gracefully bringing her feet into the air into a high kick. It was clear she was a natural performer, captivating us all with her effortless display of strength and sensuality.

She flipped upside down, bringing her legs back over her head, then curled around, spinning. Lowering herself to the floor using only her core and firm hold, she rolled off onto the stage, stretching out with her back arched as she stood. Hands clutching the bottom of her shirt, she slipped it off, revealing her bare breasts.

Flinging her hair again, she moved herself against the pole, then slipped her short, black pleated skirt down, revealing transparent, black boy shorts. Palms grasping the rod again, she spun around several times, reaching hand-over-hand, climbing to the middle. Twirling around and round, she spun faster than I’d ever seen any dancer before her.
