“We’re in here!” I called out to Tyler over my shoulder, and he rounded the corner.

“Ian wants to see us.” He lifted his chin at Giovanna. “And Amber’s ready for you. Meet her upstairs. She’s giving you clothes.”

Tyler’s hands were nestled deep in his pockets. Remaining silent, he stared straight ahead at the closed elevator doors as we ascended to the second-floor executive office lobby. Ian wasn’t the only one who’d been acting strange.

“What’s wrong with you?” I asked.

He shifted his gaze toward me. “Nothing, really.”

“Nothing really?” My brows knitted. “There’s something you and Ian aren’t telling me, and one of you needs to speak up because I need to know.”

Perplexed, he shook his head. Holding up a hand in front of me as we stepped out of the elevator into the hallway just outside the lobby doors, he stopped. “I have no idea what’s bothering him, but it’s not the same thing that’s bothering me, I promise.”

I poked a finger into his chest. “So, you admit there’s something wrong.”

“It’s not anything I really need to talk about at the moment, but if something changes, I’ll let you know.”

Folding my arms over my chest, I lifted my brows. “There’s something going on between you and Mila? Is that why she’s not around right now?”

“What?!” He flickered his gaze. “No, no. Nothing like that. We’re great, and she’s completely fine about postponing the vacation.”

I strode over to the executive lobby door, pulling it open and stepping to the side so Tyler could walk through first. Evan, Naya, and Dylan were running laps around the sitting area. Jenna was frazzled, holding Kira while she watched the older kids and squealed in delight. Maddie and Jackson sat quietly on the couch.

“Evan! Naya!” Tyler barked just over the noise as the three of them came around the front.

They froze instantly. “Why you not say my name, Uncle Ty?” Dylan’s brows pinched together the same way Ian’s always did when he was bothered, and he pointed to himself.

Unable to hold back his amusement, Tyler pursed his lips in a tight smile. “Okay, Dylan, I want you, Evan, and Naya to sit down and be quiet for a few minutes.”

Satisfied he’d not been left out, Dylan high step marched to a chair and climbed up on it while the other two fell onto an oversized sofa together. “Thank you,” Jenna sighed as we came to a stop in front of her. “I love these children, but they got into my candy stash when I turned my back for two seconds. I have someone bringing some popcorn and I’m going to put on a movie soon. We already played a few games, and I ordered pizza, so they’ve had second dinner.”

I chuckled. “There’s no better birth control than loud kids running around.”

“I think we’re done having kids for now,” she snickered. “How’d the new girl do?”

“I know you’ll approve.”

“Good,” she beamed. “She’s staying with you guys still?”

I nodded.

“You guys should bring her over for game night.”

“Ehhh,” Tyler interjected, “you know Ian’s weird about new people. We all are.”

Jenna huffed. “Whatever, she’s special because of her dad.”

“True,” Tyler added, “but even Giovanni Rovati’s own son tried to kill him over money.”

Jenna rolled her eyes back and forth and that’s when we realized she might not have known that information. Confident that Giovanna would never do that, I changed the topic quickly. “They’re going apartment hunting tomorrow after you guys have brunch.”

“Oohh, I love apartment hunting. My old apartment building might be a place to look.”
