Her body dropped to the floor, and I grabbed my left ear. “Ouch!” Placing the weapon back in the holster, I adjusted my clothing before checking to make sure her blood didn’t splatter me. Smiling at my still clean skin, I glanced at her before waltzing to the door, pulling it open and sashaying down the hallway with ringing ears and accomplishment on my face.

James’s brows knitted, and he nodded once as I passed him again and turned down the hallway to the elevator. I dug my nails into my ears, trying to rid them of the indescribable high-pitched sound. When the elevator opened, I strode into the executive lobby to see Amber and Jenna. They twisted around.

“Hey!” they greeted me in unison.

“HI!” I realized I shouted at them when their eyes widened. “Sorry,” I tried again with what I hoped was a normal volume. “Wonderful job tonight, ladies. You guys were so freaking hot up there!”

“Thanks,” Amber beamed.

“Thank you.” Jenna smiled. “It felt amazing to be up there again, not going to lie.”

“You okay?” Amber asked as I dug into my ear again.

“Yeah.” I snickered, glimpsing Ian’s office. “Are they in there by chance?”

They nodded and Jenna replied, “Yeah, they’re finishing up a meeting.”

I glided across the office, my heels clicking against the marble floor as I unlocked my desk cabinet and retrieved my bag. As I slung it over my shoulder, I heard the door open and saw the guys filing out. With a determined look on my face, I walked over to Luke and placed my hands on his chest, gently guiding him back into the office.

“What’s up?” Confused, he chuckled.

I spun around. “Mr. Knight, can I see you two for a second?”

Lifting his brows, he stepped back into the room, closing the door behind him. I wanted to be as far away from the door as possible since I wasn’t sure what volume my words were coming out. I meandered to the middle of the room. They got the hint and followed.

“I may or may not have killed one of the dancers,” I whisper-yelled.

“Jesus, Jade.” Ian ran his palm over his mouth.

Luke, standing with his hands on his hips, asked, “Who and why?”

“One of the newer girls. Paris.”

“Was she one of the girls who was causing issues over Jen and Amber?” Ian asked.

“Yeah,” I nodded, “and she talked shit about you and your kids too, so I did what I thought was right.”

A smirk tugged at Luke’s lips.

Ian remained stoic. “You killed one of my employees because she talked shit about us?”

“Exactly, that.”

His gaze turned to anger. “Damnit, where’s she at?”

“Playground.”

He took a deep breath as he slipped his phone out of his jacket pocket. “Luke, take her home.” He put the phone to his ear. Playground needs to be cleaned.

Luke placed his palm on my back, ready to lead me away, but I held my ground. “Are you mad?”

Ian put his phone away and nestled his hands into his pockets. “I’m not mad. I know we’re all still on edge in some ways, but we can’t just go around murdering people because they talk shit about my family. We’d kill at least ten people a day, I’m sure.”

“I’m sorry,” I sighed, “I just didn’t want to take any chances after everything that happened.”

“And I appreciate that. You’ve been through some bad stuff with me over the years, but if people talk shit about us, let’s just fire them next time. That girl?—”

“She said Jenna didn’t deserve to be a mom and called the kids brats!” I blurted, unable to contain the anger and frustration in my voice.
