Roman’s parents came as well, and from the way they hold hands and their eyes linger on each other, I know where Roman inherited his romantic side and the perseverance to not give up on me for all those years.

My heart swells with love and happiness as I stand next to him before the judge. I’d taken his Mark for the third time a few months ago, and I now wear it with pride for all the world to see. Beyond that, my shift from Alpha to Omega hasn’t affected much in my life aside from one major change.

As if he senses my thoughts, Roman’s arm wraps around my waist, his palm spreading over the small swell in my stomach. The news came the month after I agreed to set a wedding date. We haven’t told my mother yet. We’ll leave that scandal for when I go in for my c-section three months ahead of schedule.

Maybe it will help her get over the fact that I refused to accept any sort of groom’s gift from Roman’s family. I don’t want money to be between us when we start our new life, and Roman had understood that, even if my family didn’t.

The judge fixes Roman with a stern look. “Do you, Roman Markham, take Warren Heardst as your lawfully wedded husband? Through sickness and health, until death do you part?”

Roman straightens, his shoulders pulling back. “I do.”

The judge turns to me. “And do you, Warren Heardst, take Roman Markham as your lawfully wedded husband? Through sickness and health, until death do you part?”

I turn to Roman, my heart swelling with love. “I do.”

Roman doesn’t wait for the judge’s go-ahead before he pulls me into his arms, his mouth finding mine with practiced ease.

As he should. He’s been kissing me every day for eight months straight.

I grab his lapels and tug him closer, my lips dueling with his to see who comes out the winner.

This is my high school nemesis and the owner of my heart, after all, and I plan for the first kiss of our marriage to set the standard for the rest of our life together.

The End.
