With a moan, my eyes close. “Yeah.”

His hands move on my ass, his fingers digging in my crease. “That means we won’t get caught if we go there, right?”

“Yeah,” I moan, nearly coming in my pants.

His head lifts, and his green eyes search mine. “Yeah?”

Nervousness hits me when I realize what I agreed to. But he’s right. My dad won’t be home until morning, and I’m desperate to be with Rain.

I hook my fingers into his belt. “You have to leave before he gets home at four in the morning.”

An elbow in my ribs jars me from the memory just in time to hear the words, “You may now kiss the bride.”

I stand and clap with everyone else, tears stinging my eyes, both from the memory of what could have been and the joy of seeing two of my favorite people happy together.

Carrie blushes as Sean sweeps her into his arms and kisses her with a passion that can’t be denied.

“Whoo!” Samantha puts her fingers to her lips and lets out a loud whistle. “About damn time!”

Similar cheers rise from those around me, and good-natured laughs fill the air.

Samantha hugs me, her shrieks of happiness splitting my eardrums, and I cup my hands around my mouth to wolf howl.

The couple separates, Sean beaming proudly and Carrie flustered but happy.

The wedding officiant clasps their hands and raises them into the air. “I present to you, Mr. And Mrs. Buckley.”

More cheers follow, and as the happy couple walks back down the aisle, we throw rice paper flower petals into the air.

Then the wedding party passes, too, and my eyes meet Rian’s once more. My heart thuds painfully, my breath catching in my throat. After several heartbeats, he looks away and passes our seats, continuing down the aisle.

Samantha squeezes my arm, her voice pitched to reach my ear through the cheering crowd. “Did you know he’d be here?”

I shake my head. “I didn’t even know Sean knew him.”

“He must be related to be part of the wedding party.” She shakes her head. “Talk about a small world.”

Yeah, small world.

There was nothing good about being an Omega, and being kicked out of my home just solidified that fact in my mind.

I was lucky to find a twenty-four-hour diner to hang out in the first night, sipping coffee until morning. For Saturday night, I used my meager savings to rent a room at a crappy motel.

In my mad scramble to get out of the house, I’d left behind my cell, so I used the phone at the motel to call my dad, but he hadn’t answered.

Despair set in after that. I only had enough for one night, and I couldn’t even call Rian, because I didn’t have his number memorized,

But that was probably for the best.

What could I say? There was no way I could stay with him, and a part of me was angry that he had even suggested we go back to my house.

He knew my dad didn’t like that I was an Omega. If he hadn’t suggested we sneak into my room, we never would have been caught, and I wouldn’t be homeless now.

On Sunday night, I was lucky that Sean found me and took me to Carrie’s foster home.

In all the chaos, though, I miss morning practice on Monday.
