I kind of wanted him to scold me for being so dumb, and I deserved a double scold for waiting so long to talk about this. He invited me to, but I still went all hermit and closed into myself. The past few days, I’d basically been anywhere I assumed Wolf wouldn’t be. That included this house and the majority of the property surrounding it. I’d used the excuse of going out to do some shooting when anyone asked, and that included Bru himself. He’d offered to go with me (on multiple occasions), but I’d shut that down.
Again, old habits.
Even he couldn’t get anything out of me. He couldn’t but his brother could.
Stop thinking about him.
I closed my eyes. “It just happened.” And once it had, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. How much I liked it…
I wasn’t even going to touch that one now, refusing, and I studied Bru’s slow nod.
“And, um…” Bru placed his laptop off to the side, his eyes narrowed. “It was consensual?”
The fact he was talking to me like a friend about all this despite Wolf being his brother made the guilt sit even heavier. I should have told him about this days ago. “It was.”
And you liked it.
I wouldn’t tell him that, refused to voice it. If I did, I would have to address the little devil living in my head. The one that said I regretted what had happened, but not that I’d done it. It was in direct conflict with what I was feeling emotionally when it came to Ares. I couldn’t stand him, but the sex had been, well, how it always was when it came to him and me. It’d been earth-shattering. Ridiculous.

The guy just got my body. Even when he was wild and untamed, which he’d been. I mean, he’d ripped my fucking bra in half.
I pressed my palms to my eyes. Though, I was sure Bru had no idea why.
And he was too quiet.
I made bravery my strong suit when I dared to gaze up. Bru was sitting back and had pushed his glasses into his hair. He really did look like one of my younger professors, and I did notice when he was in here on his computer, he had readers on. Actually, whenever I did see him in the past few days he’d been on his computer. I didn’t know why since we weren’t in school right now, but figured he was just scrolling.
“So, um, there really was something between you, then.” He studied me. “Between you and him. There was something.”
I’d told him before it had been one-sided, and the other day, it had just been sex. I still loathed Wolf.
But I wanted him.
I wanted him in that deep way and that heat we’d always been able to create. We were good at it. Fucking great. I breathed into my hands. “I like having sex with him.”
My words were so low, but he completely heard them. His brow twitched before lowering slowly.
And he’d called me honest before.
I wanted to be and did feel guilty about how long it had taken me to come to him. I wasn’t sure why I’d waited so long now.
Bru’s gaze traveled across the room. Like he was trying to solve the most intricate problem with the way he circulated. His hands came together. “So, what’s the problem, then?”
My brow jerked up this time. “What do you mean?”
“I mean.” He paused, shifting. “You said this is just physical, right? That he used you…” His sight wandered once more, deep, penetrative. I didn’t know what he was thinking about, but he was bracing his arms now. He shrugged. “Why not just do that? It can be that simple. You and him in a consensual situation.”
I understood why he was shifting now, what he was proposing. My mouth parted. “You’re serious.”
“I mean, you’re two adults. Consensual.” He was scrubbing into his nut-brown-colored locks. “You like doing that with my brother.” His face charged red. This entire topic was completely uncomfortable for him, and it was weird talking about this. I think I’d laugh about it all if I wasn’t in such shock. Bru’s head cocked. “If that’s what you want, it can be only that. Especially since you said that’s all he wanted out of everything too.”
