I turned around, his dark eyes on me. He was like a foot away from my face, and I made out his dark freckles. He lifted his fingers. “Hi.”

“Hi.” I moved, creating distance, space. It was needed. I gazed around. “I fell asleep.”

Wolf nodded, sifting through his wavy hair. “I did too for a bit. It was nice.”

It was nice, but I wouldn’t tell him that.

“Bru didn’t come in here, but I locked the door just in case.” His attention hit the door, but then he faced me. “I didn’t want him walking in and accidentally seeing us. Seeing you.”

I’d say how thoughtful, but the action could very well be because he was a complete caveman. Marking his territory and making sure only he saw me naked. I huffed. “He’s out hiking with some of the others. He’ll be gone for a while.”

I didn’t want to say I’d insinuated to Bru earlier I’d be occupying the room, but I had. Bruno Sloane-Mallick was too good of a friend. He remained impartial to all this shit I had going on with his brother. I didn’t tell him Wolf would be swinging by here, but I figured he could have assumed.

Wolf’s nod was curt. He lay on his back, and I took the opportunity to get up. He was smelling too good beside me, and I didn’t like how fuzzy my head was getting in result.

“What’s, uh… what’s with the rush?”

We didn’t rush was my first thought following what he said. We fell asleep so we didn’t rush. Also, why shouldn’t we? We already fucked, hadn’t we? If anything, he’d overstayed his welcome, and I’d allowed him.

I wasn’t anymore, easing to the edge of the bed. I reached for my shirt and a glance over my shoulder told me Wolf watched me. His focus burned hot into my back. I tugged my shirt down. “No reason.”

I was being good about sounding impartial, unaffected. It was one of those situations where I hoped I could speak into existence what I wanted to feel. To fake it until I felt that way.

I learned from the best after all.

Another glance, and I observed Wolf on his arm. I was tugging my panties on, but he wasn’t even watching. His lengthy, naked form was halfway beneath my bedding, the sheets rested at his chiseled hips. His gaze was far off, his fingers dancing on the fitted sheet.

He outlined his mouth. “Well, if there’s no rush, you should stay, then.” I turned completely in his direction, and his big shoulders shrugged. “If we have time, you should just stay for a little bit.”

“This is my room.”

“Let me stay, then.”

I was surprised to hear this, that he wanted to stay. He had some protests about doing all this at the door earlier, as well as yesterday. My head tilted. “And do what exactly?”

“I don’t know, hang out?” His sight flicked down to the sheet. “There’s no harm in occupying each other’s space for a little while. You can tell me about your semester and…”

My breath stopped, and his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.

He lifted a hand. “We can just talk.”

Talk.

It was crazy what he was saying about no harm. This was harmful. It was cruel, and shaking my head, I stood. I started gathering his clothes in quick time, and Wolf rose from the bed. “What are you doing?”

I was getting his stupid things.

Then threw them in his face.

He caught them. He blanched, but he caught them. They fell into a heap in his muscled arms, and I was shaking, livid. I pointed toward his things. “Put them on, then get out.”

My words were shaking too, goddamn me. My throat went tight, and I noticed Wolf wasn’t moving. Why wasn’t he moving?

My fists knuckled. “I said get out, Wolf. Now. Don’t make me say it again.”

I’d scream if he didn’t. I felt on the cusp of it if he didn’t move his ass. The urge to do so buzzed hot in my throat, but the urge to cry hit worse.

I wouldn’t, though. I refused in front of this asshole.
